Oh yeah. I'll just DECIDE I want to go to Oberlin right now, and you'll accept me. >_<

Maybe it was meant to read “ONCE you have made the decision to attend the college.”

Or maybe it was broadcast to ED admits.

Or maybe it was written for Con applicants or admits considering the double degree program.

My alma mater sent out an alumni update via e-mail about the way their computer engineers are creating interactive software that helps with the rehabilitation of stroke victims. The e-mail included this quote: “Someone in America has a stroke every 45 seconds,” and I thought, “Man, I’d hate to be that guy.”

Wait, what is the whole ‘waitlist for 100 level classes’ thing? Who got this email? Is it saying you can already sign up for classes for next year?

I have gotten two emails from two different departments at Oberlin. Neither has information about class waitlists, just about the range of courses and why I should major in X subject at Oberlin.

I also received an email from a department at Oberlin. No notes on class waitlists. Although it was very strange for them to mention my active interest in Classics, which I never once talked about. O_O I wonder if the email was intended for another applicant.

Probably everybody received one. I actually received 2, one from math dept and one from econ dept., both listed by me as prospective majors in my app. No odd wording in mine though, at least I couldn’t see any.

The recent emails from departments did go out to all applicants, on the basis of the major interests we have recorded for each student. The admissions office releases the names of prospective students to the departments, who are responsible for the content of the letters. It does sound like the wording of the creative writing letter was a bit odd…we’ll have to have another chat with them about what’s appropriate to send to applicants. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused!
