Congrats on the better score on the ACT. For some schools, the difference between a 27 and a 30 mean a big difference in the amount of aid you may qualify for, not to mention the overall acceptance rate.

While you mentioned you have a relatively low GPA (3.1) in the original post, you didn’t indicate how that score compares to the rest of your HS graduating class - in some schools that would be the lower third, in others it might more easily be the top 25%.

If your parents can pay 25K per year, and you can take loans of $5,500, plus potential work-study of say $2000, you have a budget. You can run the NPC for the schools you are interested in to see what you might expect.
