Of all the things I learned at Princeton, these are the most important.

It's definitely made Princeton a serious consideration for me now. Before this, it was mostly the very generous financial aid package that attracted me. I really might just reply "yes" May 1.

^ Exact same situation here. Definitely will be visiting.

Anyone know if visiting students can still stay with Princeton students? I didn't see anything about it on the visiting section of the admissions website, but perhaps I'm not looking in the right place?

admitted students are hosted by current princeton students. There is no program set up (nor has there been in the recent past) to allow students who are just visiting (ie juniors looking at college) to stay with current students. There would just be too many people, since 20,000 people applied to princeton this year. Recruited atheletes stay with team members during their visits, and iif you can find someone to let you stay in their room then you're welcome to stya, but the admissions office is not involved.

I'm admitted. I'm not totally set on staying overnight with a student, but I really need to visit soon and sleeping somewhere overnight would be much nicer than driving up 4 hours in the morning and then driving back 4 hours the same night.

check out the dates for "Princeton Previews" on the admitted students website. if you register before the deadline, the university will match you up with an undergraduate student to stay with.

i love the links at the bottom...do you know of anymore of those little clips?

This opening post was absolutely lovely and I'm so moved to see such passion about a persons school. Really wonderful.

This post is fantastic and I thank you for writing it.

Now here is something useful and inspiring!

Thanks, PtonGrad!

And I'm going to the college that PtonGrad beautifully and poetically described. Unbelieveable.

At some point during my past two years at Princeton, my dad (an alum himself) came to visit. As we wandered through the junior slums and Blair Arch came into view, I mentioned that it was too bad that, after one lives in such a beautiful place for months at a time, one no longer notices the beauty. My dad smiled and said "I never took it for granted. Not once. Even my senior year I would look around constantly and think 'I can't believe how lucky I am to live here.'" I felt almost ashamed. How can anyone lucky enough to go to a really great and beautiful school like Princeton take it for granted like I have?

Thank you for this post. Here's to not taking it for granted.

^^^did you really take it for granted or were you just too busy to notice

it seems to me you were loving the beauty of the school (not taking it for granted) once you had time to relax and look around

beautifully written,great post!

This is the most beautiful post I have ever read on CC. You are very eloquent and insightful. Thank you so much for posting this :)

This really moved me. I’m currently a junior but I’ve been feeling extremely insecure and pressured to get into an “amazing” school, in fact so much so that I think I may have lost sight of the truly important things. Thank you for this post.

My daughter has just been accepted at Princeton. The original post by ptongrad in December 2007 is the most beautiful and eloquent post I’ve ever read. If this is the caliber of students she will be interacting with at Princeton, and I think it will be, her years there will be well worth the $200k price tag. (She’s strongly leaning towards Princeton but has a couple of other excellent choices.)

Ptongrad 4 president!

Wow I love the original post made by PtonGrad. It actually touched my heart more than anything I’ve heard from other colleges about why they’re an amazing place to be. Extremely well written and expressed… Thank you for posting that! :)

after a little more than a term at Princeton, I think I can safely say I know exactly what PtonGrad meant :)
