% of legacy admits at schools

^^ If you have stats for Dartmouth and Williams, you've already had 4 "safeties" Bates, Bowdoin, Trinity, Colgate.

I'm not sure where I fall because I have high scores (1560/2350 on the SAT I, two 800's and a 750 on SAT IIs, and 3 5's and 1 4 on AP's) and I've gotten good grades in 10th and 11th but freshman year was rocky so my GPA weighted is in the top 10% range not top 5. So I and my GC aren't exactly sure what schools are "safe" especially since Bowdoin/Bates are SAT optional.

a lot of the "they only got into X school because they are a legacy" is overrated. Note: below is generalizations; of course there are other anecdotal cases to disprove any of it.

just genetically, the offspring of smart parents are usually smart, too.
environmentally, the parents, if they were able to graduate from an ivy league school, probably stress the importance of education/doing well in school.

also, legacies often "know" the school more than someone "just throwing an application in" to all the ivies or whatnot.

Plus, I'd think legacies are more likely to accept the offer of admission, be it due to parental pressure or because they've dreamed of going to x school all their life.

bowdoin isn't a safety for williams.
