Off campus housing for mental health?

I have gotten into Texas Tech, and things are looking good. They even are offering me a large scholarship! The problem is that I am what you would call "severely mentally ill". I have obsessive compulsive disorder as well as psychotic disorder NOS, which is looking like it will be soon diagnosed as schizophrenia. Because of this, I need to live off-campus no matter where I go, and while I'm holding out to hear back to somewhere closer to home (cough UT Austin cough), I really like Tech.

What I'm wondering I suppose is how difficult will it be to appeal for off-campus housing. I simply can't have a roommate as my paranoia will be too severe and I can't handle explaining that if they rearrange things they may set me off.

@reminadaze you can apply for a medical hardship. How successful with that be? I don’t know, but here’s the link you need.
