Off campus housing

needing info on off campus housing – the pros and cons… Anyone know anything about Crimson place? my child is looking around now… and prices seem really high…

Crimson Place is right next the railroad - all those blaring train horns have to be off-putting. Apartments and houses can be found for all price ranges, but if you want to get into one of the luxury condos, it’s going to be expensive.

I only know about The Bluff and The Retreat.

I have a son at The Bluff and my other son will be at The Retreat next year.

What kind of prices are you seeing?

What kind of prices are you wanting?

my son is quoting us $535 plus per person per month for a 2 or 3 bedroom MINIMUM most include utilities but one townhouse, electricity is NOT included. how are the prices at the Retreat and the other one?

The ones w/stops on the campus bus route; [CrimsonRide - Transit Visualization System](http://ua.transloc.com/)

Retreat: [The Retreat at Lake Tamaha](http://www.retreatalabama.com/contact/)
$530/month (including estimated monthly utilities)

University Village : [University Village | Home](http://www.university-village.com/)
1 Bed $695
2 Bed $475/BR
3 Bed $475/BR
4 Bed $450/BR

Bluffs: 11.5 MONTH CONTRACT

The Bluffs/semester (3 bedroom unit) $4,100.00
Summer $2,200.00
Total contract amount $10,400.00

lol apartments in socal are at least ~$1000/month…regular room rates for a dorm in a university here are around $7k-8k for 9 months…and that’s for a double

if you can find the ones with 2+ bedrooms, those are going to be the cheapest “per student”…but none will probably be “cheap”…LOL

Son’s apt at The Retreat has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. It won’t be more expensive than his honors dorm in Ridgecrest.

pretty much anywhere is going to be less than the suite style dorms.

: )

Those Retreat at Lake Tamaha houses/cottages look really, really nice.

Can’t believe the rent for a room in a 5 BR/Bath house is only around $500 a month.

If you are finding “$535 plus per person per month for a 2 or 3 bedroom” to much
you should look through Craigslist Tuscaloosa… [tuscaloosa apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist](http://tuscaloosa.craigslist.org/apa/)

For example;
[Arlington Square Apartments](http://arlingtontuscaloosa.com/)
New 1BR and 2BR apartments 1BR-$429/2BR-$529. Gated/Secure access to the property and On-site management and security. 1 mile from UA campus

Just an apartment…not a resort like the Retreat and NOT per person

From what I’ve heard from friend’s who have students there- they pay an average of $750 which does not include power/cable etc…

Hlsess…which apt are you referring to?

*Can’t believe the rent for a room in a 5 BR/Bath house is only around $500 a month. *

That is per room…not per house. Each student has a contract (parent signs). I recently signed my son’s contract. It’s for about $540 per month including a portion for utilities. However, if the kids use excessive utilities, they will get charged for that. So, they’ve all be heavily warned not to excessively run the AC/heat or hot showers. LOL

DD is at the Woodlands this year.

It is a all inclusive resort style complex, but not on the bus line. Close to the mall and Target. 4 bed 4 bath.

Her rent is $595 including everything, utilities, furniture. They have special events for renters as well as their own pool and exercise classes. It was a good transition apt.
D & I felt the complex was safe.

Next year she will be in a very close to campus house. Literally 1/2 a block from where she currently has a parking spot & near the Strip. As nice as her current apartment is she felt she would be better off close to campus so when she had a break from classes, meetings etc. She could just go home for a quick break. The house rent will be around $400 and current girls who live there pay about $50 more for cable and utilities.

OOPS- that is for a hosue not apt

^^^^

that makes sense.
