Hello,

I'll be a second year in 2009-2010 and I'm looking for off-campus housing. I do not know how to go about the process, because I'm hearing many different things.

My roommate is looking for housing but he needed to get on a waitlist? But on the UCSD website, they recommend that students search for housing ~6-8 weeks before the prospective move-in date? So, which one is it?

I want to live offcampus, near campus (particularly a place near the Nobel/Arriba/whatever campus shuttles. I see some houses that look really nice (and divide the lease by 4-5 people, that's really cheap). But the leases are for 1 year. Does it HAVE to be one whole year? And, when do I actually go contact the landlords (still 6-8 weeks? because I see some nice places that are up now).

Also, I don't want to get into the "rush" period in August, where everything is very risky. I prefer to have everything set before summer, and then move in in September (that way, i KNOW I won't be homeless.)

Okay, so that was a lot. But if you have any experience in this field, please share! Thank you. :)
