Off-Campus room and board + dining + financial aid

Hey everyone, I am a sophmore right now but i kidn of want to think about getting an apartment with a group of people (about 10 or so) and i want to get a head start to see if i can do it.

Since I receive so much aid, will financial aid pay for room and board if i choose to live with that group of ppl? Financial aid paid most of my tuitions (except for 800 dollars), all of my room and board, and all of my dining fees. So, If i decide that i want to look for an apartment with those group of ppl, how will financial aid disburse that to me or to the landlord i choose to do it?

realli it will cost a couple thousand? give me an estimated number!! i mean i will be sharing it with like 10 ppl…

for my landlord, unless you make “special circumstances” agreements with her, you have to pay all of your rent at the beginning of each semester. ie: you pay june - december in june and jan - may in jan. except you pay june’s rent and may’s rent (first and last month) around the time when you sign.

since my financial aid covers all of room and board, will my financial aid adjust if i dont have enough for the off campus living?

They’ll consider your FA as if you were living on campus in a double and having the standard meal plan, AFAIK. If you live off campus, that money is just credited towards your bill, and if there is a surplus, you get the rest. SO you may end up paying your entire housing and food costs yourself, because your FA is just applied towards your bill first, which is tuition and whatever else.

At least that’s how I"ve understood it.

So it is certain that I will have to pay first and last month’s rent with a security deposit? Also, how long will it take for financial aid to give me my refund check? O_o

and my financial aid will not adjust accordingly if i do not have enough money?
