Off-topic, bro

^“Steve Mcqueen” is my favorite from that album.

Steve McQueen is also my personal favorite. Rumors are going around about M83 coming here for Lollapalooza, which would be fantastic.

Haha, I’ve successfully commandeered the laptop.
My internet time is precious and limited.

My parents don’t give a damn about my grades. (They leave that up to me.) They only care about my SAT scores. (I find this ironic.)
But yeah, I usually tell them I have to type something up for school while they either cut off my internet or watch me like a hawk to make sure I don’t get off-task.

Congrats! Summer@Brown sounds so fun.

@smorgasbord
(orgas…what?)
You’re crazy. Who doesn’t love analyzing post-modern feminist works?

@anaychi
You might have been born in the wrong era. Maybe you should’ve been a Renaissance Man.
(Though I can sympathize. The one thing that scares me is deciding a major. I pretty much love everything besides engineering and…math.)

Also, I don’t put too much stock into those personality tests. (People are not socks. They can’t be easily sorted.) For example, Mr. Meyers-Briggs or whatever could try to label me with a few letters. But he could never tell you that I hate Sudoku with a burning passion. Or that my favorite condiment is honey mustard. These are important aspects of my personality that his test simply overlooks.

Wow, my post is way too long. Sorry for taking up like half of the page.

…Phyllis Schafly…

That’s deep. Do you, by any chance, run the beekeeper club at school? :D

There’s really no need to sympathize, neither would I call it an issue. If I love something, I don’t have to express my love for it through majoring in it and committing to a job pertaining to it. If I love two things equally, but one holds better benefits for “the real world”, what’s so hard in choosing that?

In my opinion, life has a lot of aspects and opportunities that people squander because it’s outside of their personal norm, or because it doesn’t relate to their future profession and/or future pursuits. Things like college majors and jobs get in the way of “embracing” those aforementioned aspects of life. Those things are very trivial in the long run, yet people go to their deathbed full of regret and sorrow due to the fact that they didn’t, again, “embrace” those aspects. I’m obviously going to choose a practical major and profession to adapt to this societal train of thought and maintain a successful life as an adult, but none of that is going to stop me from doing other things that interest me. Cherishing philosophy may seem out of reach when your job is working at a place like CERN, but in reality, it really isn’t. Expressing your love for food (cooking or eating) may seem impossible if your job is to work as a mechanical engineer for a hydraulics conglomerate, but it isn’t. I want to stray away from the idea of waking up, eating, doing the same job everyday (no matter if it’s something that interests me), and going to sleep. That almost robotic cycle isn’t “me.” As an adult, I’m going to pragmatically pursue a profession, but also embark on fulfilling my love for other things without the need for a major or job.

I just want it to be known that this isn’t an issue for me. I have a handle on what I want to do, with this^ making up a lot of my reasoning.

Edit: just re read your post and realized that’s not what you were talking about. I just had a useless rant, haha.

I have a question: What is trigonometry(or whatever it is called)?
At my school it’s paired with pre-cal.

I’m not exactly sure but I think it is part of Precalculus. Looked it up and it said it was a branch of mathematics that deals with triangles and side/angle relationships.

Do you all have school tomorrow?

Yes.
also, guys, this thread is in the what’s the chatter box! cool :)

yeah, pretty much. What about you helloel?

98, haha nice.

Nope, no school. President’s weekend break. Actually, I think there might be conferences, but you only have to go if you’re failing a class or something.

I do have school tomorrow… but I have Feb break all next week!

On a somewhat related note, I just got my driver’s license :D.

Have fun driving all over the place!

congratulations dfree

crash your party by karmin is the worst song I’ve ever heard lol

thaaaaanks guys

you guys have to listen to bonkers by Dizzee Rascal. It’s a bit old but I just discovered it yesterday.

Nice dfree, I don’t get my permit until May! I hate late birthdays…A lot of my friends already have their full license.

Anyway, I was hoping there would be some CCers on tomorrow, because all my friends are going out of town and thought I could get on CC for some entertainment. Now that I think of it, I can use tomorrow for summer program apps.

Is it jazz?

Just watched the beginning. The music video is so… trippy.

Not even close to jazz…

helloel my birthday is in october, so I’m one of the last kids in my grade to get their license. It really sucks to be licenseless when your friends have theirs. Most Fridays I go to a basketball game, and after the game most of my friends go out to eat. I could never go with them cause I wouldn’t want to make my parents chauffer me around. I’ve missed out on some fun nights :(.
