All January Admits are encouraged to attend the Arezzo Program in Italy during the fall semester. For more information, check out this site (you should have received this in your admit packet): [Arezzo : Italian Studies in Tuscany](Arezzo Lisio Italian Studies Program : University of Rochester)

But that is only one option ==

What about people want don’t want to learn italian ><

In years past (and I’m assuming this year as well) Dean of Freshman Marcy Kraus has been the academic advisor for January Admits. If you call the Center for Academic Support they may be able to get you in touch with Dean Kraus. She can make sure that you take the correct amount of credits at a local community college (taking too many credits, over 8 I believe, can have negative consequences as your standing as an admitted student at Rochester) if you want to go that route instead.

Give Academic Support or the Admissions Office a call, we can help you weigh your options.

Did you look at the Arezzo program? There is so much more than " learning Italian." The courses sound very interesting and the Professors credentials are impressive. I think you even get 2 credits for cooking!! Just a suggestion to take a good look. I am sure it is not for everyone but…

I don’t know about the costs, but Arezzo and the area around it are spectacular in most every way, from scenery to people to history to food. Sienna is one of my favorite places. Go in the Cathedral and to the left to the Piccolomini Library. The floor is on the far side of incredible. Eat in the square in the evening as the swallows circle.

You should totally do the Arezzo program unless you’re planning to be a humanities major. If you do it then you have your whole humanities cluster done and out of the way. That leaves you so much more freedom in your future schedule than having it hanging over your head. If you are planning to do engineering that means you only need 2 more non-major classes the whole rest of the time you’re at UR. Not that you can’t take other things, on the contrary, it frees you up to take whatever you want without worrying about fulfilling the cluster.

My DD ( a Jan admission student) was just accepted to the Arezzo program. Very exciting! Hope to see some other Jan students there!

efp2014: I was just accepted into the Arezzo program as well! Very excited to hear that there will be other incoming freshmen on the trip as well!

Thats Great! where are you from?

efp2014: I’m from northern new jersey. how about your daughter?

TSocash (or any one who can help)- I was first told by admissions that I can only take up to 8 credits only if i go to a community college, however, I just called the academics support, and they said that I can take a full semester course in community college, 8 credits policy only applies to people who deferred their admission but not Jan admits. So any one can verify which one is correct? I’m so confused …

Marcy Kraus, the Dean of Freshman, is the academic adviser for all January Admitted students. I would contact the Center for Academic Support and ask to speak with Marcy. The academic advisers in the Center for Academic Support won’t give you the wrong answer, and Marcy will be able to give you the best answer.

Thanks for the fast reply :D

Well, I just looked through the Arezzo program, but can I apply for the program now?

OMG, I think I am late for the Program = = Is that possible to apply late?
