Slicke: I PM’ed you back.

Hazgirl411: That’s such wonderful news!

@larinaga: Thanks for the add!

Did anyone find out if youre admitted if you log in and it says admitted in the URL? Lol

@jrlovesseattle I highly doubt that the URL will give you any type of hint as to what your admission decision will be. Like for the past however many years, I’m pretty sure you find out your decision through the words “Admission Status” on the portal.

Every other past attempt of trying to find out/speculate decisions has been stupid and hasn’t worked consistently.

@xcballin, yeah. Thought maybe it was a glitch idk lol. But you’re probably right! Here’s to tomorrow’s batch haha

3.91 mechanical engineering accepted

Rejected :(

I applied for tag for UCSB, at that moment I had a 3.19 GPA and now I went down to a 3.14. I’m really nervous awaiting the decision, I finished my math and english requirements by the end of summer of 2012. I have all my pre reqs done except for one and I have been working throughout community college and interning. UCSB is my number one choice, do you think they would consider accepting me?

The website says “Complete 60 semester or 90 quarter units of transferable college credit with a grade point average of at least 2.4 for California residents and at least 2.8 for nonresidents”. so I guess it’s okay to have a gpa that is below 3.0?

No, your chances of getting into UCSB with a GPA less than 3 is extremely low. They admitted a handful of people with 2.8-2.9, but consider that the average is closer to 3.5

@natfire452, You have a shot because you’ve complete english, math, and your pre-reqs. That could definitely play a positive factor in their decision. UCSB has admitted a few 3.1-3.19’s in the past. Good luck!

@larinaga Thanks for the reply I was hoping they would see that I TAG’d their school but shortly fell under the requirement for the GPA. I have everything done which would be such a bummer if I didn’t get in.

Decision: Accepted

Date Received: 3/19/2013

Objective:
UC GPA: 3.68
Major Pre-reqs Completed: 3-5(unsure)
Intended Major: Chemistry
TAG: No
IGETC: Yes
Units by the end of Spring (Semester): 63
Subjective:
Extracurriculars: CKI, Student Goverment
Job/Work Experience: Summer job
Volunteer/Community service: Aid at Optometry office(10months), Circle K
Personal Statement: I was confident in my essays because it was really personal.
Other
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant): California
School Type: Community College
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male
Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): Clinically diagnosed severe depression and anxiety issues.
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Most likely
Reflection
Strengths: Decent GPA with A’s in the right courses(writing, science), good essays, good volunteer experiences
Weaknesses: B’s in math courses(took precal jr year in HS and got a B)
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Finished IGETEC and had a good personal statement.
General Comments: I got A’s on the courses that matter but B
s on half of the ones that dont(GE’s) so that made me get a lower GPA. I didnt tag because I only had 25 units done by my first year. I took 12 done last semester and am currently taking 17 units to push my unit cap to 54 plus 15 units from AP classes to push myself over the 60unit mark. This isnt my school of choice but its definitely a back up in case other schools don’t work out.

@larinaga hey my sister joined the group, add her in Please! :)

Reflection

Strengths: Brought my GPA from below 2.0 to 3.4 by getting 4.0s for 3 semesters straight. Personal statement explained all the issues I was going through before, which lead to low GPA. Think that really saved me.
Weaknesses: pre-reqs not completed
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: just a combination of leadership roles, community service and GPA.

I actually don’t know if want to go to UCSB. I want to major in engineering and it is VERY difficult to change majors to engineering from what I’ve read online. oh well. Still a good backup school though.

^Congratulations!

Just added her, Hazgirl.

Be sure to join the facebook group, admits! :)

@SDlocal1326 Holy snaps, if i don’t get in my jaw will hit the ground; but gw getting that JeepiAy up

I was accepted!

3.43 Pre-Mathematics. I visited the campus recently, and its AMAZING!

Transfer from a CC to UCSB STATUS: ADMITTED!!
Major :Psychology
GPA: 3.49-3.5
Major GPA: 3.8
Prereqs: All done except one math class.

I wrote a really good personal statement and had pretty good EC. Did 60 units at a CC in 1.5 years while holding a part time job. I probably got in because my brother was also a transfer student from CC and is attending the school right now. He got in last semester, maybe that had an influence on their decisions, not quite sure… but yeah!! yay! Still hearing back from UCI and Davis. Im hoping for davis!!
