@Mustufa92 You mean the english and math required on IGETC right?

@Mustufa92 Don’t worry, I got accept when I was taking my last eng course last spring

@Mustufa I got your message but I don’t have enough posts to send pms yet. I finished my last English class in the winter, but I didn’t update my application until last Wednesday. The reason why I took so long to update it was because if I did input my winter grades, it would lower my overall GPA. But after reading the forums, I found out that it is better to let them know that I have completed the English class rather than have it IP. So I updated it on the 20th, they received that update on the 22nd, and I was accepted later that day. Now I can’t help but think that my update was the thing that got me accepted. Now it doesn’t mean that you have no chance, anything can happen. I still think you have a good chance because you have slightly better stats than me (GPA wise, not sure about ecs). Good luck!

@xcballin. Yeah the English requirement on igetc.

@bjmim323. Well I’m glad that you got accepted and hope that ucsb truly turns out to be a great investment for you! Thank you for your help! I’m just trying to hang in there and would love to make it to ucsb since they have a really nice accounting program.

Decision: Accepted

Objective:[ul]
[] UC GPA: 3.88
[] Major Pre-reqs Completed:All done by spring. Bio, gen-chem, o-chem series completed by last summer. Calculus and Physics w/ Phys Calc supplement will be finished by spring quarter.
[] Intended Major: Biopsychology (pre-med)
[] TAG?: no
[] IGETC?: no (only two humanities classes short)
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars: President of the Medical Brigades club. VP last year. We put on free mobile medical and dental clinics in Honduras.
[] Job/Work Experience: Used to tend and manage a bar. Worked in tech support. Worked in a gardening store. Full-time student currently.
[] Volunteer/Community service: I put in a lot of hours for my EC, Medical Brigades. We are a volunteer led chapter of a non-profit.
[] Personal Statement: Strong, meaningful, and relevant.
[/ul]Other:[ul]
[] School Type: CCC
[] Hooks: Non-traditional student. Mature adult returning to college with life experience and an intense motivation to redeem myself for my not-so-stellar first attempt at higher education.
[/ul]Reflection:[ul]
[] Strengths: GPA, leadership, philanthropy, completed pre-reqs, aced difficult courses like O-Chem, see “hooks” (above).
[li] Weaknesses: Large stack of W’s from several colleges (over nine years ago). I don’t take a huge load of classes per quarter (I hold no value to rushing my education; I’m here to learn this stuff thoroughly).[/li][/ul]General Comments: This is the first school that I heard back from, and I would be very happy to be a part of this program. That said, I am gunning for UCSD neuroscience, UCLA psychobiology, or Cal neurobiology. UCSC and Davis neuroscience/neurobiology are my 2nd tier choices. I will not likely attend SB if I get in to any of these programs.
