"Official" 2014 USABO thread

i disliked the ones with the true/false ones. how are they going to score those

i guess you have a point, it just seemed pretty hard while i was taking it. In retrospect, i think i did alright. we can’t discuss questions yet, but if you want to pm me, i’ll think up some code exchange that won’t give away any questions at first but will reveal to us both if we actually took the test.

as for the true/false questions, its .25 for each of the four miniquestions. I assume no penalty, and your net score for that question is simply how many of the miniquestions you got right times .25

when is everyone done taking the exam? And, can the exam get postponed if there is a snow day on the day you are supposed to take it?

What grade r you guys in?

As for the true/false, yes, they were tricky but manageable and shouldn’t affect your score too too much if you got down a good chunk of the regular questions. I don’t expect the cutoff to shift significantly from last year’s 25.

Although thinking about it, if each of those T/F had 2 correct answers on average (tops) and there were 10 such questions, that totals to 5 points, so don’t worry too much about those.

I am just wondering but is this exam one of those types which have several recycled questions? I have not taken it, and I am looking over past tests. Thanks.

@bobjohnson stop cheating

Im not cheating. Btw I already took the exam today. The cutofff will probably be around last years.

The questions were really random…more so than usual

Luckyducky I felt like they were less random overall… especially with regards to having really long and weird words like peptidglyoclosysimox (fake word obviously haha)

Overall, it wasnt too bad. The true and false were a tricky.

Does anyone have the answers to the 2013 exam?

hey since we all took the open now, can we go over the answers?

Is it just me, or was that test noticeably easier than those of previous years? I wonder what the cutoff will be…

Question:
If I just study Raven’s Plant Bio book through and through can I just completely disregard the plant section in Campbell & Reece?

@chrism Yes, you can also skip the animal physiology chapter as well, cause Raven’s covers that

thank you!

cut off score approximation?

You guys are such trolls.
