I’m learning sequences now guysss I just finished L’Hopitals and have a test :’(

Does anyone know how the AB and BC tests compare?

My BC class isn’t too hard… yet. Just had a test on differentiation. Got a 78, dammit.

@ckstudent123 So basically AB is the first semester of college single-variable calc while BC is the first 2 semesters of singlevariable calc. I believe the BC exam is like exactly half AB stuff half second semester clac stuff

we are currently doing derivative word problems ( using dy/dt and optimizing and stuff)

College123, that is exactly what my class is doing also. “Related Rates” is what it’s called I think.

@Zeppelin7 thanks!

Just had a test, can’t wait for some results to pop up any second now, I’m really stressed about this test, I felt like I did pretty well but who knows. I’ve had some major upsets (C APWH recently)

What are some good prep books that help with conceptual stuff? I want to be able to know calculus at a more conceptual level. My teacher’s good in that way, but at the same time, the pace we’re going doesn’t allow me digest the curriculum as well as I would like. I’ve heard good things about Barrons and Chung when it comes to calc but I have no idea whether they would help me not just learn the material but fully understand it

Review books aren’t really good for conceptual understanding. I would go either with MIT OCW or Khanacademy. Barron’s and princeton review are largely mechanical and just gives you the method to solving problems. You can also find the conceptual understanding in the textbook.

@jimmyboy123 Well I personally hate the textbook I have, find it extremely difficult to understand (more because I dont like its format than anything else)

Thanks though, I’ll check out MIT OCW (I’ve heard about it before, never checked it out though)

If our class just finished related rates and are moving on to “extrema” and that jazz is that a good pace for learning the content on the AP exam? I’m not going to a selective school or anything I just want a 5

It’s a good pace for AB. But if it’s BC, then your class in a little behind I think. Because my class just started integration today.

I’m in BC, and we just started integration today. So far, it’s a pretty easy class. My teacher is surprisingly easy for AP, definitely easier than my precalc teacher last year. She grades kind of toughly on homework, so I’m rocking an 88 in the class so far , but overall, I’m understanding the content pretty well. How are your guys’s classes so far?

thanks, I think the only AP class my high school even has is Calculus AB anyway. and even then, only two people out of the 14 or so in the calculus class are going to attempt the exam. the rest are in for dual credit

Holy hell, this class is a lot easier than what I expected it to be. My teacher is a nice old lady who genunely seems to enjoy teaching, which is something you don’t see very often nowadays. I’m fluctuating between a B+ and n A-, which considering how sucky I was in precalc is pretty good. Looking forward to a great year!

related rates was pretty difficult but integration is going smoothly (so far)

I think my class is really behind if you all are already on integration. We just started related rates yesterday…
The class in terms of homework load has been pretty easy, but I have to study 8-10 hours for every test, and 3-5 hours for every quiz. I got a solid A first quarter, though, so I don’t care how much time I have to put in to this class.

What do you guys think the best AP Prep Book is?

@redisthenewblack What do you mean by “sucky”?
