***Official AP English Language and Composition Thread 2014-2015***

Oh my. That was bad. So very bad.

@MusicManatee Wasn’t that “celebratory?”

I also remember “emphatic” for something.

I put emphatic accidentally bc I thought it said empathetic, but everyone’s saying it’s the right answer hahahah

I also remember contentious being an answer. I remember eliminating pedantic twice.

@valedictoriangod I’m almost 100% sure it was issues because in Volumes you say Vol. ___ but issues was just No. ___

I am kind of nervous. Help calm my nerves. What should I be expecting?

Can we bring snacks/food/drinks? How am I going to write THREE long, 4-5 paragraph essays without my hand hurting?

Will someone post the link when they release the FRQ soon?

Is that today or tomorrow?

I don’t remember using pedantic as a response at all in the MC.
And I seriously need to work on time management, since I still had one full passage to read when they called ten minutes xD

They should release it sometime today because they said about 48 hours

@Mochis1 haha I’ve seen you on almost every ap thread I’ve been on. Hooray for same AP tests!

Also, fun fact: this year, they put the most amount of mc questions ever allowed on an ap lang test (range is 45-55, past years it’s been 49-52), i only finished with 10 minutes to spare :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is the link to the FRQ for anyone interested.

Now looking at the questions, what do y’all think about the community/culture issue on the 3rd prompt and the part about “your school” in prompt one?

@BryceBJ I think both of those are fairly important. Failing to give attention to those would be not answering the prompt

@baller55 ugh well that sucks. i analyzed in general, not personally pertaining to my school or my community. however, for the argumentative i did talk about the function of polite speech in America throughout the essay, and i did mention my school name twice in my synthesis essay.

would not answering the prompt completely be enough to bump my essay grade down by 2-3 points?

i don’t think you deserve more than a 5 on an essay that doesn’t answer the prompt, but that may be pushing it. They may give you a 6 or something if your essay is still fire.

@baller55 Graders don’t spend more than 2 minutes “reading” your essay. It’s all about first impressions.

@writerzt71 Also, I think that’s ok. I did a mixed general/specific analysis. I mentioned that my school did have an honor code in the intro, and in my bodies, I discussed why we should revise it using the sources.

yeah it just saddens me that i felt so strongly on my essays but i didn’t specifically say “my school” and a specific community other than my school and work so I will get ~5s

@BryceBJ - I think they care more about how you craft your argument, not necessarily answering the specific prompt. If you focused on the ideas of thel questions and wrote well, I think you can easily get a 6-7.
