***Official AP Language and Composition 2012-2013 Thread***

I do not believe AP releases essay scores. They haven’t on any of my past exams, and don’t see them doing it on this one.

Wow. The exam was how I expected it to be, but, ironically, it just seemed weird to be finished with it, I guess… I don’t know. English has never been my forte and my class didn’t TRULY prepare me realistically. I’m thinking a high-4 to a low-5 for this one.

MC was okay. I’ve gotten a 31/54 and 32/54 on the two practice exams I took. But, those weren’t under great conditions, and the AP Exam felt better, so I’ll probably score 35-40 correct on this one.

FRQ was weird… My teacher graded all of the essays I wrote throughout the year as 8s (highest in my school), yet I doubt they are representative of what an AP Reader will give me. All of the prompts/passages on the exam were strange for me but went well. I did great on the synthesis. The analysis essay went well although the passage still doesn’t make sense to the present day for me. The other one (not sure what to call it) felt strange when I finished it. But, after looking at other CC posts on this thread, I think I may have actually pulled it off, especially since AP Readers set the bar each time. I’m thinking a 7-8, 6-8, & 6-8 on 1-3, respectively.

The only score calculator I know puts me right at a 5 for a 37/52, 7, 7, & 7. Again, maybe a high-4 or a low-5. I want a 5, but we’ll see. By far the strangest post-AP-exam feeling I’ve had. But, it could have always been worse, right? Can’t wait for July!

For the ppl tht got scores bck already, wht do u think?

How far was Ur actual score frm predicted?

I expected a 4, but I got a 5.

I was not sure what to expect for my score. I thought I did well on the synthesis and argument essays, but thought I flopped the rhetorical analysis essay. I must have done really well on the MC because I ended up with a 5.

I got a 5, but DEFINITELY expected a 4, mostly because i’m terrible at the MC section (usually only about 30-32 correct.) I’m so excited! I guess my reader did have a sense of humor and enjoyed my Lindsey Lohan essay!

I somehow got a 5…

honestly shocked… I walked into that completely blind…I didn’t take the actual ap course or do any prep whatsoever…never even took practice tests (if they even exist lol) or knew how many essays (and what they were) were on it. looks like regular english classes can suffice.

Got a 5, but honestly expected a 3-4, tha MC was soooo hard. Congratulations to everybody who took the exam!!

Can someone from the east coast/south check my scores for me please!?!? Pm me if your willing:)

I actually thought I did good on this test. But I was wrong… Probably got caught in a curve.

I got a 4, which I’m really happy about. I knew I did mediocre, at best, on the MC, but it seems as though my essays made up for it.

I got a 5! I was truly expecting a 4. I thought a 5 was a long shot before, during, immediately after, and all summer long, really. Seeing the distributions only confirmed what I thought, since only 10.3% got a 5. But somehow, I got a 5! Pretty excited. My school had 68 APLAC students, and my teacher’s goal was to get 5 5’s this year because he had 3 last year. So, a 5 in my school is a pretty big deal.

I thought the MC was easier than practice test MC, so I felt good on that. I went to town on my synthesis essay, I’m pretty sure I got a 9 on it. My analysis essay was meh… better than on practice tests, but probably not higher than a 6, maybe 7. My argumentative, which was always my best on practice tests, was dreadful. I made up examples, I had horrible structure, I’m pretty sure it was incoherent :stuck_out_tongue: But, it must have been at least a 5. Anyways, I’m pretty happy!

I’m glad everyone did better then expected…I was the top of my class…I wanted a 5, but I made a 3. Honestly, I feel like I let my teacher down and everyone who told me I’d make a 5. Oh well.

My D was expecting a 4. She did well in MC but the prompts for the essay were tough and she thought she did not write very well. Since there is only 10.3% getting 5, we were surprised to see a 5 this morning. Yay. :)

I feel pretty good with my 4. I had it online and it was way too easy, so it was basically a self-study. I was the only one in my school to take the class/exam, so I fell great!

I was earnestly expecting a 3-4 because I always did terrible on the practice MC for this exam but I was pleasantly surprised with a 5!

Got a 2 which I believe is wrong so I am getting a rescore, but congrats to everyone who is getting great scores!

I expected a five, and I got a five. But that’s because I’m planning to major in English :D

I wrote about Sylvia Plath and structured my Synthesis essay around T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets. That test actually excited me. . . but I’m weird :3

@luminousBrink: I’m in the same boat; top of my class and ended up with a 3 somehow. It’s a huge let down. I partially blame the fact that our entire class had to take the late test (form B) because our school had the day off on the day of the regular test (really ticked me off). Especially because form b typically curves a lot harder. So ugh.

Did anyone else take form b and have less than expected results?
