Do u guys think that theres gonna be a big curve do to all those reading qs? I couldnt believe how much there were, it felt like an Eng Lit exam. Ahhhhhh. I loved those finding the error or multiple choice thing. I didnt sign up to read some literary passages!!!!!!! The rest i thought was pretty easy except for two of the narratives.

Beast Beast Beast. I'm so happy though. No more APs!!!

I'll save my sadness for July1. Celebrates

During the speaking portion, I accidently paused the tape when i thought we were supposed to.

I know that you're not supposed to stop your tape; if you do, the listening portion of your test will be thrown out.

Is that it or will the entire test be thrown out?? What are the consequences?

I'm really, really worried. Someone please reply.

For the first listening section, the proctor put the volume on the tape player too high and the microphone amplified the sound through the whole room but there was an echo so I had a really hard time hearing or understanding anything that the person said. Is there anything I can do about this? Like, if I were to report it would they do anything? I know that I wasn't the only person in my room that felt like this, so if I were to get other people to call college board would that change anything? I don't know what I am really hoping would come out of this but I was just wondering.

Also, I couldn't finish the last section of reading. That sucked. I counted six the first time so I planned to allot a certain amount of time for each one and then at 20 minutes left I thought that I had only two passages left and I had three! So that sucked.

rbc... AP tests always have big curves. I don't see how this test would be any different.

c'mon, someone has to know. bump

I'm just sooooo glad it's over. Now I get to fail my English Lit tomorrow. ;)

Seriously, though, I thought it was okay. The multiple choice definitely killed me, but the free response was fairly easy. I didn't finish the picture sequence either, but that's okay because I thought I did better than I usually do in class. The reading was really, really long. Totally spaced out during one of the narratives, as well. I omitted so many questions on the multiple choice.. Oh well.

In my session, we could barely get the tape recorders to work, so I ended up taking 8 hours worth of tests today (span and stats) with only the breaks in the middle of the respective tests.

Edit: Almost forgot: the test was pretty hard, pretty much omitted an entire reading passage, spaced out during a narrative. I hope I did well enough to get a 3.

does anyone know the breakdown of points and what you need to get a 5, a 4, or a 3?

I think you need a 135 out of 180 about to get a 5 but I'm not sure - can anyone confirm?

Based on 1998 test...

133+ was a 5
114 (?) - 132 was a 4

I think....

And i think its as follows for total possible points (180) -

Multiple Choice : 90
Free Response : 90

1. Fill-Ins - 14
2. Essay - 40
3. Speaking - 36

can anyone confirm what I just posted about the breakdown of points?

:/ Since they changed it this year, I really don't want to say what the points may be since there's a high probability that it will change due to the change in the exam.

However, generally 114 + will get you a 4 and a high 140-150 will get you a 5.

How long were your compositions? I felt like mine was way too short, but I really had no straight opinion on the subject given.

mine filled up exactly the first page and second page, which is definitely a lot more than 200 words.

damn. i fill the first page and half the second page. it was 200 words... our teacher said never to go above it. i saw other kids writing more pages than 2...

we have to remember: these graders are stuck in some resort hotel who are waiting for happy hour beer. they are only going to skim the essays and listening part. it's something to consider.

;)

so they have to hear the master tape on your tape? If so, then everyone from my testing area will have their tapes thrown out. :( The proctor had us all listen to the tape and then move into separated areas and record our answers on our own tape recorders.

no... not the master tape.

every body will have tape problems. mine skips and **** when i play it. i dunno, it's all messed up. i assume this is the part they are very leniently about.

remember, these graders are "liberal" and "very accepting" of "Spanish novices"

SchoolDuh0610 - could you post exactly what the score chart says for the 1998 exam (the cut-off ranges and the point breakdown)?

I've resolved not to worry about the tape recording problems I faced. I agree with amnesia; there will be tons of tape problems and the AP graders will have to account for that somehow. I mean, just look at this thread. We're only a SMALL, TINY majority of the people who took this test and look at all the problems we had.

Dropofwater, I never heard that if you pause your tape you are disqualified. It could be my ignorance, though.

your entire test is disqualified? That hardly seems fair. I expect them to throw out my tape, but my whole exam?

ugh.
