Official AP US History Study Thread

Hopefully you’ll have some spare time before the test to independently study what your teacher didn’t have time to cover :(

Yeah. We’re technically going to “finish” (she’s rushing through everything), but I don’t know how much I’m going to retain.

Also, this is her first year of teaching. She hasn’t really explain to us very well the correct format of writing DBQs/Essays. We’ve written a couple of them, but honestly, she’s a pretty easy grader. Does anyone know of a website, or anything, which explains the preferred format of APUSH essays?

Anyone use the APUSH cram packet?

[Official AP US Cram Packet](<a href=“Official AP US Cram Packet | PDF”>Official AP US Cram Packet | PDF)

Seems useful, I’d like to know if anyone used it before for the AP exam.

Is there a really good study book? I saw someone mention AMSCO earlier in the thread, but I read on Amazon that it does not contain the answers for the practice stuff.

The answers are online: [Amsco Answer Key](http://teacher.ocps.net/stephen.hansen/APUSH%20Documents/Amsco%20Review%20Questions%20Answer%20Key.htm)

Bump 10 char

Thanks for the DBQS+ Amsco Answers

anyone have tips for DBQ/FRQ? my teacher has only made us write one DBQ so far so im thinking i need more practice

does anybody know if the test is going to cover 2005 and on?
because my teacher just gave up on us after the 1980s…=
for those who took it last yr, bout how many questions, if any, were there on the last 2-3 decades?

i don’t think. That would really rare though. If that was to happen, i would skip it. There are only like 5-9 MC, estimating, that would about after 1980s. For the essays, really rare, but if it were to happen, it would be one of those option essay prompt like “pick two and write about them”

so…should i just give up now and start reviewing from the beginning? =D
just wondering, do they also go into detail about Native Americans? >_<

also, this thread needs some sample questions going…
so here:

Compare and contrast US reaction to war in Europe in 1914 with its reaction in 1939.

This is unrelated but I self-studied the US History SAT II and got

790 in November
800 in January (yes, I did retake a 790 lol)

Can someone explain the differences in content (if any exist) between the two tests? I’m wondering if I need to study for this one.

I have the same question as mabsjenbu123 - what exactly are the differences between the SAT Subject Test and the APUSH exam? I heard that the SAT is less detail-oriented and overall less difficult if you are well prepared for the APUSH, but I’m wondering what you all think.

Selena731,
About your question if there is stuff about post-1980 history:

“Approximately 20 percent of the questions deal with the period through 1789, 45 percent cover 1790 through 1914, and 35 percent cover 1915 to the present including questions on events since 1980.”

That is from the CollegeBoard website on their AP US History Exam page.
