Does anyone know anything about the appeal process?

rwalton, I am in a similar boat as you. I also had a hard year that took down my GPA, but I have since improve and I had a pretty strong ACT score (admittedly not as impressive as yours, but close). I also have a ton of extra-curricular activities. I am a little shocked that I was rejected, but not as much as I am shocked that you were. Unfortunately, there is nothing that I know of that we can do to appeal. So I send you a viral hug, I know I want one because this is heartbreaking.

My current plan is that I’m going to go to my second choice school and then transferring.

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted, from the bottom of my heart I am truly happy for you and I wish you all of the best. I hope to join you all second year!
Best of luck to the girls who got deferred. Remember that you still have a chance to get in and I will be crossing my fingers for all of you.
To the girls who, like me, are not as lucky to have received the good news or even the semi-good news, we are still bold and beautiful women. We are still going to go to college, and we will still be amazing. I send all of you a viral hug!

Sorry, I just looked into the appeal process, and I believe I found it. Google Barnard College appeal and you should find it.

thanks mcjohn8844 it’s nice to know I’m not alone! I looked it up. I hope it works…I’ve learned to accept the fact that a 2nd choice school might be my fate :

I can’t find it…can you post a link please??

I was looking at what I had believed to be the appeal link again, I think it way be what you are looking for, but I am not sure. There are comments in it about applications and not agreeing with the decision. That and it is the only link that showed up on the website when I searched it on Barnard’s website. Here it is:

https://www.barnard.edu/general-counsel/general-grievance-procedures

I really hope this is what you are looking for, if it isn’t I am sorry for getting your hopes up. I would email the admissions office, they for sure will give you the correct information. I wish you all of the best with this process, and with your application to any other colleges.

to all those rejected (like me)… we can always transfer.

Those procedures are not for appealing admissions results, I am afraid. They are for students and/or employees of Barnard.

I am so very sorry that some of you have to go through the process of being rejected from your “dream” school—Barnard is THE most selective women’s college in the nation and among the most selective colleges, period. So many, many amazing students are facing what you are facing, and many more will do so in March. You are certainly not alone, if that helps any.

My strong recommendation is to find another school where you know will fit in and about which you will be excited. I promise there are wonderful alternatives out there for you.Best to you all and congrats to those who were admitted ED!
