so is it only for engineering that you are allowed to reserve as of now?

I don’t know if only Engineering is available now or not. I do not know what sleeponit’s daughter’s major is, but the dates sleeponit listed are not the dates that were available for my daughter. My daughter’s options were all in July, none in June or August.

yea, im suppose to go to the scholars int affairs one. Thing is i don’t know when the dates are and I will be out of the country june 29 after.
Im just confused how people can reserve spots online when the people at osu offices kept telling me orientation dates are mailed in order of acceptance fees

Sorry if I confused anyone with the dates my daughter had as options for Orientation. Apparently the orientation dates are based on major/school division. She is a Psychology major and in the Arts and Sciences division so those dates must be for that group of students.

We received a Buckeye Bound newsletter in the mail today and it stated that the orientation scheduling is also distributed on a rolling basis based on when you paid your acceptance fee to the university…

np, i called the office this morning and they told me no one has been scheduled yet since mailing have not been sent out… wierd. But if you got reservation, great for you! :D

My son’s orientation options are available online. Not exactly sure when it went up, but it was there on Tuesday of this week. He sent in his acceptance letter and deposit the day we received it back in December.

They do the scheduling at orientation, so it’s better to an earlier day to try to get classes you want. BrooklyninOh- my daughter is a freshman from Parma Hts and loves it there.

I scheduled my orientation! It was on my app page. The first page asks you to confirm your major and honors status and such. I’m going July 18th-19th. My only two choices were July 18th-19th and July 19th-20th. I’m an honors pre-nursing major.

It asked about the Honors status? My daughter did not have to submit anything about that, and she will be an Honors student. All she had to do was confirm her major.

It didn’t ask, but it did say something like “Our system indicates that you are in the University Honors Program” or something. So I know that it knows that I need an honors orientation, haha.

Honors Incoming freshman attend their orientation before the other freshman. One perk of honors is that you get to register before the other students in your class. Therefore the dates for orientation for students in the honors program take place usually in July while the other incoming freshman attend their orientation in August.

If you are coming into Columbus from out of town and your parents do not plan on staying in the dorm (which I recommend parents do not stay in dorm) be sure to make your hotel reservations now. Hotels around campus tend to fill up quickly. Also if your parents are going to come out for freshman move-in also be sure to make those reservations now. Again those dates at local hotels tend to fill in quickly.

I stayed in a dorm last year for my daughter orientation and it was convenient being in the same building and right near everything going on.

surprised this name isn’t taken, jeez.

Decision: Accepted

Stats:
SAT: M-690 CR-680 W-670 (got 740 CR and 680 W after taking it again, didn’t submit, also got 31 ACT in late 2009, forgot to submit that too lol.)
SAT IIs: none submitted

Rank: Top Half?
Other stats: At the end of my junior year I had 1 AP & 3 Honors
Currently taking 4 APs (plus a lab)

Subjective:
Essays: Wasn’t too bad, although I probably should’ve spent more time on it; I’m a bit of a grammar nazi with essays, so I didn’t have anyone else read/edit mine (although I did edit a few others’ essays). Focused on how badly I wanted to go to OSU and why I should.
Teacher Recs: didn’t submit.
Counselor Rec: Most likely excellent, spoke with him a lot.
Hook (if any): Half asian, first-generation.

Location/Person:
State or Country: OH
School Type: Public, not very competitive
Ethnicity: Asian/White
Gender: Female

Other Factors: Worked at a university one summer doing research as part of an NSF-funded internship; that probably helped. Picked up tennis and academic quiz team junior year, cultural/environmental clubs, student council rep, tutored younger students, etc.

General Comments: My extracurriculars and upward trend in grades definitely helped me get in; I was REALLY worried I wouldn’t! I applied mid-November and got in mid-January.

I sent in my acceptance fee late January? I signed up for the June 22/23 orientation date a few days ago. I’m taking the Latin placement test so I’ll be there bright and early… I also got into International Affairs Scholars! :)

Congratulations to everyone else who got in! :)

General Comments: I wasn’t really worried whether I’d get in or not. I’ve got the grades and GPA. Anyway, I turned in my acceptance fee a couple of weeks ago, and I’ll be majoring in Biochemistry :)

Incoming freshmen men, interested in a $500 scholarship? Well Pike is giving out two of them in September!
is Counselor Rec and college prep form same thing ? what does Counselor Rec look like ?

Is there anyone who hasn’t been accepted? Seems like some scores, etc are pretty low and people are still accepted.

OhioMom66- You are on the wrong thread for that info- Try searching for rejected or deferred. I know there was one thread in January.
