***Format taken from wierdolilgrl's topic. *

Thanks for the template – though I’d add ECs to the subjective list.

Traditionally they don’t add “ECs” to the template, and applicants just list them in the “Other Factors”, but no problem. Added ;)

Are we 100% positive that it’s the 9th? Because they always send confirmation emails about the date, and no one has gotten one yet saying the 9th, have they? I know it should be late next week/early the week after that, but if you consider that they had a pretty large increase in applications this year, do you think it’ll be the same day?

Well said, I don’t think anyone has gotten the email confirming the dec 9 decision. Also, someone should call the admissions office tomorrow to find out.

The increase was only 234 more people (according to NY Times).

Nonetheless, this topic is made for whenever the decisions come out ;)

i don’t think harassing the admissions office is going to change how quickly the results come out or how quickly we will know when the results come out. the fact that we haven’t gotten an e-mail yet pretty clearly indicates that they don’t themselves know when the decisions will be made available. when they do, they’ll tell us.

it’s also worth noting that the second Thursdays in December in 2009 and 2008 were the 10th and 11th respectively. it seems much more likely that the date the decisions will come out this year will be closer to the 11th or 12th than the 9th, considering the larger volume of applicants.

It’s ok everyone. Just ignore the date I wrote on top. My bad :S

lol…i hope i didn’t sound confrontational, i understand that the date is tentative, i just figured it would be helpful to provide another possible/more likely date. i’m so anxious about decisions myself that i’d love to believe decisions will come out on the 9th, but for the sake of some personal sanity, and considering that we haven’t gotten an e-mail yet, it’s at the very least a bit calming to me to imagine the latest probable date and and expect that they will come out then. it will be a pleasant surprise, that way, if they come out earlier (an even more pleasant and even more surprising surprise if i get accepted).

The 9th was originally suggested in a thread about financial-aid. Someone submitted their CSS profile and saw that financial-aid decisions were coming out on the 9th. But why would Columbia release financial-aid decisions before admissions decisions?

Yeah…I think they come out on the same day.

Right. Which is why I’m still banking on the 9th.

I said call, i never implied harass i any way.

i know, that was just my more colourful description. i’m sure you would be courteous and such but, i mean, the admissions office kind of has plenty of work on its hands, particularly more pressing problems with people who may still have papers missing or issues with transcript stuff or whatever. that and processing and deciding on 3000+ ED applications. decisions will come when they come out, which is soon, give or take a few days. so calling just seems a bit pointless.

Add strengths/weaknesses and why you think you got accepted/rejected/deferred! [:

Eh, I’d give it a shot. The people that you speak to on the phone, usually work the desk, so, it’s their job to answer qustions.

@travieisagirl: That falls under “General Comments”.

@good4college: Thanks! Make sure to tell us what they say.

I was the one that originally posted that. As far as I remember, it said “notification of admission: December 9th” and it didn’t specifically even say financial aid, though it was on the CSS profile. But I might be remembering incorrectly, so don’t hold me to it. But did anyone else do the CSS profile that could maybe confirm?

I just dug up my CSS receipt, and yep, it says EA/ED Admission Decision Date: 12-09-2010
