[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My GPA was all A’s before junior year. Junior year was hard on me personally. I had a lot of family issues. I didn’t tell Columbia that. But I guess it made me look lazy, because I started getting B’s. If the problem were just that other more impressive candidates applied from my school, I think they would have at least deferred me.

[/ul]General Comments: My IB Coordinator was extremely ****ed that I got rejected, apparently, I was the Ivy League capable one at my school, and well, it didn’t happen. He offered to write me a recommendation for my other schools and pull some strings to help me out in my other applications, so I guess, I have something to be thankful for. I might end up attempting to transfer into Columbia, though that is FAR in the future now. But my new first choices are equally appealing to me now, so, I’m not letting this rejection ruin my optimism for the future.

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I thought that web development would be a major asset. Even though some other kids do it too, I was told that establishing a company AND a tutorial blog is really impressive and it stands out. My GPA was high too, I guess.
[] Weaknesses: Community service hours. I could’ve done more productive activities during the summer (like I got invited to that People to People thing at Harvard, but it was too expensive for me to go there)
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think that absolutely nothing personable from the counselor was bad. I can’t really say anything otherwise, maybe I just wasn’t what they were looking for. My essay was also longer than 500 words, but someone else on here (can’t remember who) got in with a 750 word essay.

[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: none yet[/li][/ul]General Comments: anyone who wants to get in check out whoever got in. more than half of them have scores less than mine by a good 100 points. yet they were all either a minority or interned somewhere great or did like upwards of 400 hours of community service or got some summer research program at some college. im not kidding, look at their summer activites line, thats the only thing im missing. but so for the last 4 years when ive LITERALLY dreamed about going to columbia ive been misguided. my parents knew bothing about how to get into college in the US. i didnt know that i shouldve taken part in all of the summer programs that i got offered into. i thought they were a waste of money for my parents, i was looking out for them :’( im a guy and i feel like crying everytime i think about this. DO SOME SUMMER PROGRAMS AND INTERNSHIPS AND LOTSSSSSS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE if Columbia is your dream school
