The applications are in! Lets roll! :D

haha I think I know my decision - 90%->Reject, 9.9%-> Defer, 0.1%->Accept ;)

Good Luck Everyone! :)

Good Luck Everyone! :)

i guess i'll be the first to respond to this dreadfully depressing first post. those must be the numbers for international students, ha ha ajayc!

but seriously, i did apply to Dartmouth ED though. i really, REALLY hope i'll be accepted! but fate makes the decisions now...

Haha... cheer up ajayc!! You have as good a chance as anyone. I am applying ED, so my fate is set. I hope fate treats me favorable tho.

Here's a question for all EDers. Once you get that acceptance, what is the first things you will do?

For me it would be:
1. Run around screaming
2. Run down the block screaming
3. Tell everybody on facebook/CC
4. Order Dartmouth '12 shirt from Co-op.
5. Get some much needed sleep (im sure that i wont be sleeping in the days prior to decision time)

Ooh papmplemoose...don't jinx yourself!

The one thing that bothers me about the Co-op is that the Dartmouth hat I really, really like (The Game Classic Bar cap) is only sold in the back of the Dartmouth/Hanover Barnes & Noble and are thus not available online.

For me it would be :

Run to the terrace of my roof and put up loud speakers and shout!

Get a D t-shirt

Shoot e-mails all the contacts on my email account

Put up a disco ball in by room (oh yeah with the color being only green)

Throw a world party on Second life

If Dartmouth doesn't accept me I am going to FedEx myself and attend classes.

I applied ED too. I'm going to freak out if i'm accepted. December 15 is too far away!

Rainmama's son applied ED. If accepted, he will be so happy that he didn't work on all those other applications that await him in the event of bad news!

Rainmama, tell him to get cracking on those other apps. Better safe than sorry.

^^ second above post: at least get the safety apps out.

Oh, I've told him, believe me! He will apply to his favorite safety because it has an early deadline, and he is going to have to turn in a list to the college counselor, but I'm not holding my breath that he'll actually complete the other apps. But thanks for the advice :) A mom I talked to this week pointed out that someone who has just been rejected by his top pick usually isn't in a good frame of mind to pitch himself to other schools. Makes sense to me.

haha I think I know my decision - 90%->Reject, 9.9%-> Defer, 0.1%->Accept
Mine will be the same as yours

Aw, don't be so hard on yourselves!

Anyone know when admissions interviews (alumni interviews) will be held for ED applicants? Has anyone received a letter or something yet?

EDIT: Is it also true that Dartmouth no longer offers the on-campus interview? Because I was there in July and October and would hate to think I missed an opportunity to interview!

Copefan5... I was just going on CC to ask that very same question!

Im really worried about the fact that I have received no contact by an alumni for an interview. I know at least 2 alumni in the area who interview, but I am not sure why I haven't been called. Somebody please post if they hear anything! Or, if anybody applied ED last year, please tell me if it is normal to be so many days after the app deadline before hearing anything. I mean, im sure they have started reading applications, so do the first few ppl get admitted/deferred/rejected before they even go to their interview?

My D got called for her interview the day she received her ED acceptance. Don't worry about the interview. It doesn't make any difference. It's just a chance for you to chat with an alum and ask questions. The have virtually no impact on admissions

Last year, the ED decisions were posted on December 8th, according to those reporting on CC. I checked it yesterday. You can do this by going back in the CC archives

It's all over now, but the waiting. I agree that the interview, should it happen, is meaningless.

Best of luck to all.

I am also interested in what folks' back-up strategies are, should Big Green not come through. For me:

Take the December SATs again with the hopes of a slight improvement

Ace my courses (I only get my grades twice a year, January and June)

Go hard at Williams, Princeton, Brown, Yale, Stanford, Pomona and Vassar (missiles are in their silos and ready for launching)

My son applied ED last year. I think his interview was only about a week before decisions came out. And Yes, they came out on December 8. They were scheduled to be posted at 3:00 PM EST. I was going on every 15 minutes or so, and they were actually up at 2:45 PM.

(OMG -- Have I just created a new generation of obsessive checkers??)

ohh i was realllllly worried about not getting contacted about an interview..i submitted my app three days before the ed deadline..and how do we check results online on december 8th? is there also a way to check if they received all materials?
and veryhappy, i think most of us would obsessively check the results even without your info. haha
eeeeeeeeks december 8th!

No, no -- last year it was December 8. They sent all ED-ers an email a few days before telling them it would be the 8th.

This year it might be -- the 9th. Or the 6th. Or the 14th. They'll tell you.
