Official Dec 2012 READING thread

Can anyone find the passage?

i tried but i couldnt find it

Guys, don’t lose hope…in the red ACT book, one of the reading tests has a RIDICULOUS curve…-8=30…isn’t that crazy??

But…one of them has -4=30…

It seems like the average is -5 or-6=30

Question about which feature her teacher doesn’t have? half-glasses…

Softball and violin take too much time??

It was definitely untouched or natural habitat. I have explained this like 4 times but refer to @awkbird explanation as that was mine as well.

He didn’t have a long beard. It said he had a short beard.

I don’t know what you’re referring to by “Softball and violin take too much time??”

Wait for the which didn’t he have… it was long beard because in the passage it said he had a short beard?

Yes. He had a short beard, not long

The only question I was unsure of what the chronological one in the prose section:

What did she do first?

I put that she lost in the playoff, though the way the passage was structured seemed to suggest she may have picked her piece first (thus the reason why her teacher already had the information that the tape was accepted when she started practicing violin after softball season). Either way, I thought I may have been overanalyzing and decided to just go with the simple answer and avoid wasting time.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Come on man, its been so long that I bet nobody even remembers the test…just wait for your score…

it was that she picked her piece, which she did many months ago.
all the other choices were within a month or two

Seconding picked her piece as first thing she did.

Do you remember the other answer choices? Not sure what I put.

@thirrdplanet. I’ll third that.

i think some of them were like losing the playoff game… beginning violin classes… and one more but i forget

there was an answer and it was something like she picked her piece a year ago or something i had picked the playoffs one at first, but i skimmed through and saw the “year before” so it had to be picking the music piece. I fourth that. Although i think i completely failed this section due to time. stupid proctor wouldnt’ let me use my stop watch! ugh. Skimmed through all the sections…

The reading section was easier than the previous ones that I took, especially the one in September. The prose section about the violin student was probably the best. Being a musician and all, this section came naturally; I couldn’t have asked for more. The natural science section about mangroves was pretty neat, in my opinion, but of course it isn’t the most interesting topic. For the other two, eh, they were so-so, but I’m pretty sure, if didn’t misbubble, I missed the minimal. Having taking it once with a 30 on reading, I’m pretty sure this will be 30+, most likely a 33+.

hoping for a 36. But i didn’t really give myself enough time to do a thorough job on the last one so I might have missed one or two… ugh

What! The one in September was so easy. I got a 34 and I believe I missed one. I got a 30 in October but I ran out of time. I am hoping for a 33+ on this with 1 or 2 missed.
