Official December 10th ACT Reading Discussion

it was colleague, didnt clementine happen in like 1994?

You had to reread that passage: it was a tricky. After the Clementine launch, the colleague connections occurred: the latter occurred as a result of Clementine.

Last question in first passage: what was the LETTER answer?

So, we’re sure it’s B?
Any other iffy ones on Reading? I thought the Rose passage was easy, and interesting too.

i had clemetine then changed to colleague but clementine does seem right

I never denied what the passage said. Earlier in the thread, I said that the artist said he decried caricatures but was not above using them in his murals.
I’m saying that the answer CHOICE, with decried in the answer, was word for word until the second part of it where it said he didn’t use them at all. It was not completely word by word with the passage. If it was, I would’ve definitely put it.

@salemsaberhagen: THANK YOU!

And the answer to the chronological question for Social Sciences was Clementine.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/1018725-october-2010-act-reading-thread.html</a></p>

Here’s the thread from October 2010, some of the passages overlapped, but not all of the questions are the same.

The only one so far that I see from that thread that I got wrong was that I put strict chronological instead of loose. I actually noticed that it went off but wasn’t sure if that was enough to make it loose. :'(

How about the rose passage. Was it strictly chronological, loosely chronological or one of the other two?

The other thread concluded it was loose. I only remember her going off the timeline once, but they say two. But I think loose is right.

I got loose too. There was a paragraph that went “At present day…” in the middle-end of the story.

Can someone confirm that it was clementine launching first, because I’m pretty sure that the colleague informed first

I’m pretty sure Clementine was first. The other thread agrees too.

I think it’s toss up, well see

wow do you guys read the passages for reading? I found the mexican one really easy O.o. caricature was DEFINITELY used them in murals but decried the use of them. the two painting elevated and successful someting was NYC. What else… last problem was A, he culminated his career in MEXICO. mmmm… the one about a reason they DIDNT say why they dont want him to paint the first painting was D, forgot what the choice was though.

@@ clementine question. its definitely clementine let me explain in depth if ppl still dont get it. The guy who first saw meteor on moon was like in 1950s WAY before the story. Dr. Burret re-investigated the issue in late 1900’s. ok so now this is the tricky part. The passage EXPLICITLY states that she was about to publish her research from the CLEMENTINE that there WERE NO CRATERS, when the colleague told her about the 1950’s incident, then the story proceeds. So now it is clear that to be able to publish research of clementine it must have happened before.

[A Flash From the Past: New Evidence Supports Moon Blast - New York Times](<a href=“A Flash From the Past: New Evidence Supports Moon Blast - The New York Times”>A Flash From the Past: New Evidence Supports Moon Blast - The New York Times)

did the narrator adapt time spots or by and large apply it?

For the question on the mexican artist about the 2 diff paintings, I selected the answer that said something about “abstract urban landscape” because both of the paintings were abstract (stated in the passage). Is this correct or incorrect?

does anyone remember the last few letters for reading?

I got:
Clemetine came first
He decried it
Similar cause NYC was the subject matter
Loosely chronological

Crap!!! I put clementine and erased it to colleagues.
THe murals one was for sure he didn’t use it in his murals. Decry was not the answer.
FOr the murals one did you get mesmerizing and dynamic. Please say yes.
THe first passage, the last question, I think I put he applied it faithful was part of the answer
