took to increase sophomore transfer chances, glad I did!

@ hotdogseller …did you get your scores today?

English 36
Math 32
Reading 34
Science 33
Combined English/Writing 32 (8/12 Writing)
Composite 34
Very surprised to get this high of a score? Will definitely work on raising writing and math scores

did you get your score today ?

Did NOT receive scores today. Still showing as registered. So aggravated!!!

Anyone get their scores today that didn’t yesterday? So annoyed.

from cali. didn’t get my scores yet either! the wait is killing me

You all make me feel stupid.

English: 27
Math: 27
Reading: 29
Science: 26
Composite: 28

Didn’t take the writing this time because I got an 11 last time.

Also, i usually pull a 30 in English. Idk what happened this time.

But hey, can you smart people give me advice on how to ace this test? I ace high school, but standardized tests… Not so much :P

Oops, meant composite of 27

got a 34, 36 in math

Essay score of 8, bringing my combined essay/english score to 31. :/

This is annoying, because it’s lower than my SAT essay score. The comments I received were:
“Your essay adequately supported general statements with specific reasons, examples, and details. The organization of your essay was adequate, but the rigid structure seemed to limit discussion.”

Well, what the heck do you want me to do, ACT? Ignore the structure of a proper essay? Rigidity my butt. I would rather read something that works and follows a clear format than some chaotic, jumbled essay full of insight.

Sorry guys, I don’t think I’m going to retake the ACT. See you all (hopefully) on the SAT board.

I’ve discovered that the ACT frowns upon AP style writing and thinking. /: i’ve never gotten higher than an 11 and I’m in AP Literature. Some kid in regular English got a 12. I don’t understand.

haha, all u need to do is substantiate ur argument but also give relevant counterexamples. Put some voice in ur essay, and put some quotes or (make ur own up!) also provide some backup opinions based on ur stance in the argument from university professors even if they are made up too. It helps a lot, I got a 12 on my essay for both SAT and ACT.

Wow, I feel so incompetent.
Composite: 29
English: 35
Math: 24
Reading: 32
Science: 23
Essay: 11

Community college, here I come!

@Rain202 Sit and calm down. You got a 29 composite score. The national average is a 21. The only reason you’d go to a community college is because you wanted to, not because you had no other choices.

As a first-time junior:

Composite: 35 :)

Reading: 36
Science: 36
English: 33
Math: 34

Essay not yet reported

I literally screamed when I saw my score, I was so surprised. So d*** happy- no more standardized testing for me (excluding SAT II’s)!!

NO SAT/ACT’s hanging over me unlike my other junior friends who are just starting…SO SO SO SO SO happy!!!

Good luck to all who have yet to get their scores (or just their writing scores, like me)!

Does anyone understand what this means? It’s from the Stanford common data set for 2011-12. On the one hand they say writing is required (B), then they say they don’t use the essay (C) ??

Thanks

B. If your institution will make use of the ACT in admission decisions for first-time, first-year, degree-seeking applicants for Fall 2013, please indicate which one of the following applies:

“ACT with Writing component required”

C. Please indicate how your institution will use the SAT or ACT essay component:

“Stanford is not using essay component.”

Also most selective schools only mention ACT Composite, ACT English and ACT Math in their respective common data sets. How about ACT Writing and ACT science, aren’t the latter two considered or are they averaged out under ACT English?

Thanks

I got a 5 on my AP Lang and Comp exam and a 12 on my SAT essay. I was expecting to do okay on my ACT essay but I got an 8 haha. Apparently the ACT doesn’t like me. Looks like I’m sticking to the SAT :)

Is there a way to get my scores early? I did standby for the Dec. testing and I’ve yet to get them-and my other date (the one I changed from) is still there and labeled me as “registered”. I really need them by Friday; could I call them?
