<p>IMHO, i think a MAJOR reason why i did so well was due to my mentality</p>
<p>the last time i took the exam, i was so tense and as a result, i had a headache and my neck was cramped</p>
<p>going in to take the test this time, my mentality was that "this is the last time i am taking this exam. It will not hurt me because if i do worse, i always have my previous score"</p>
<p>with that mindset, i took the exam PERFECTLY relaxed. not even a headche nor the usual neck pains. and you know what? I did NOTHING but relax the two weeks before the exam. no test-taking, no cramming..nothing</p>
<p>Well I'm thinking that if I do test taking before the exam, then it will seem like a normal practice round. If I wait and anticipate for it, then it will look like a daunting obstacle in front of me. I will enjoy myself doing the math section because I love math, enjoy the Writing section because grammar is just like math in that there is only one true answer to a question, and you have to get the answer by methods similar to math. </p>
<p>With CR, I have to memorize vocab(which I really need to get started up seriously) and I guess reading passages from the Blue Book is the best way to prepare, but now I"m considering reading passages from other books with ANSWER EXPLANATIONS. I need to find that rhythm to take these tests. If I were to take the CR section right now, I would take it with the same mentality that I have right now and wouldn't do so well. I'm so confident in math and writing just needs a day or two of practicing. Once I have that rhythm or certain way to answer the problems and look at them, I'll be good to go. I can ONLY develop it by doing practice and looking for certain patterns, the way that they test me and the type of answers that they want.</p>
<p>mayiplzgovertigo - i so agree with you,
When i took the test in october i was so nervous that even though i had been getting a score of arnd 2100 in practice tests- i screwed up that day and ended up getting a score of 1970(670r,670m,630w)
Thus when i took the test in december i convinced myself that i had a decent score to fall upon and gave the test relaxed and cool-i ended up getting a 2160(700r,740m,720w) a 190 point increase!
Though many people on cc might consider this not a very good score- i am reasonably happy with it.</p>
<p>RahoulVA-
for critical reading section the best advice someone on cc gave me was that try and finish a 25 minute section in 18-20 minutes.
Really read fast and try to finish all the questions based on the first reading.
Then in the remaining time read again the questions and the paragraphs concerned.
This really helped me as SAT is a STANDARDIZED test. There is only one correct anser to a question- you just have to find one answer which is there in the passage - not one that u have CONCLUDED.
If you can achieve that- you'll probably score well.</p>
<p>Hmm... It's December 28 and they're not up...</p>
<p>Not that I care, I'm in ED, so it really doesn't matter; I've just turned into an insomniac over break, so I thought I'd be able to check my scores!</p>
<p>I am an Egyptian and got 1900 on my second attempt
Critical Reading 540
Writing 620-------->MC:63 Essay:8
Math 740
I am going again for January 2008</p>
<p>I'm sticking with my BS call on Jason's scores. Especially since he posted this 5 hours before he posted his scores:</p>

=] Hi.
Well. I was wondering if any SAT patrons could give me some advise on what things I should be focusing on to prep for the SATs.
I've nearly got my dictionary by heart and I've been reading as many I could find online, printing the ones I especially enjoyed. As a 8th grade student just starting to prep, what more can I do as of now?</p>
<p>Thank you for the advise.

</p>
<p>Sorry, but the sequence doesn't go: take the SAT's, wait 6 weeks, ask for help JUST STARTING TO PREP, misspell "advice," post a 2370.</p>
<p>If you get a good score, congrats, but don't go making up stuff or bragging in topics like, "Should I retake my 2380?". Now I"m not saying that everyone who makes these threads is a bad person, especially since many 2300+ people need to get into tough colleges like MIT or Harvard.</p>
<p>Godfatherbob.
heeere's my story.
Last December SAT was my first trial exam.
Because I couldn't get a perfect score, I put up a post asking for advice to prep for my second which I will probably take in 9th grade. I was really lucky this time, but I might not be the next, so I was just asking for advice to prep until then.
No. I am not bs'ing you.
&.. misspelling "advice"... im only human.</p>
