The vocab? I thought it was harder too. What did you get for the "The work Passages _____ the view that adulthood was quiescent, arguing that adulthood was constantly changing? That was weird. I put respite, and something. Quiscient means inactive, I just looked it up.

yeah respite is right

It seems that not many people didn't take the december SATs. Or the number of obsessive neurotics has dropped dramatically. :)

what was the second part of that question?

The second part was that adulthood is not a ________ after tumultuous youth. The answers to the second black were respite, sanctuary, or solace. I think the first part was supposed to read that the book "resisted" the concept of quiescent, or quiet/inactive adulthood. Nicole, do you remember the first part of the "respite" answer? Please don't tell me it was "confirmed".

Did anyone get the one about a guy who got lost a lot? It wasn't too bad, but I remember for the other sections there were a lot of questions comparing two different passages --> hates comparisons.

I didn't get the Shakespeare or the Alaska one...

no lost passage. i got businessman and nature, shakespeare, alaska, eye passage, and development of an artist

wuh guys.. i didnt have that passages......... i blew up first CR section.. i think backfire and i had exact same tests. u know there were 2 passages in first CR section..? i didnt even know there were another passage after the indian boy passage........ I seriously guessed every single thing on that passage.. because i found that out after the time was over.. i didnt even get to read!!! i felt like ........... u know

How about the one about rural politics.

The question about slogans and whether they were expressing

What about the Elephant Passage dealing with Art? Any questions rmemeber from thsoe?

Wow, so many different CRs. I'm going to try to organize the sections and the answers that I got.

The freaking 1st section of the CR was hard!!! The vocab questions were impossible. It is usually only the last 2-3 in an 8 question vocab section that was hard. On this test, it seemed like 6 of the 8 were hard. And CR is the one section I want to bring up. I guess I'm sort of screwed :(.

Just so you know, I had the test w/the lobster story. Anyone else notice this?

no lobster

Eye Passage:

This very short CR passage talked about eyes, visible light, and the short wavelengths of visible light, which is biologically convenient because we don't need huge eyes to see it.

- To show the significance of visible light/eyes
2) What is the "biological convenience" of visible light?

-the development of an artist
4) What does the last line mean?
-It is a reaction to an epiphany (he decided to switch artistic styles after seeing the quilts)
Verbal language snobs passage:
Another brief passage that talked about people who were obsessed with grammar rules. This one was split into two parts/ two paragraphs.
1) The "small group of people" in the first passage would respond to the second passage ("reactions of horror at grammatical mistakes") with:
-sympathetic understanding
2) The tone of the two works is:
-"playful"

lobsterr!! do you remember any questionsss??

"playful"?? i said defiant.

i put defiant at first and thewn i changed it to resentful or something like that and i might've switcvhe dit back to defiant...but tht was the experimental (hopefully)......tht was by far the hardest section on our test

kev07 for the comparison i didn't put childhood amusement or political comparison, i put intellectual sport b/c it talked about throwing slogans haha

lobster questions:
1) what was the author's viewpt about the ecologists doing crazy stuff in the ocean and realizing the lobsters were right? (dont remember the exact questions)

hari (little indian boy)
1) why did he take a break from work?
2) what was implied from the last part that said you could rise up from nothing.. it was either that his resources were very limited or that his previous attempts were futile??

liberal/pickups
1) why did they use the words liberal and pickup
2) what did the "episode" underscore??

writing - the one about the insects flying in every spring.. was there no error on that?

what about the wild life in Africa, who had that?
