official financial aid package

you're not going to ucsd?? isn't it too late to go anywhere else now, except for community colleges?

edit: haha ic. good job.

I had mine as late also, the lady changed it for me when I gave her a sob story (but it was true lol)

if they hadnt change it I would have worked.. btw did they tell you you had to wait Tienisnotcoolx?

wait Tien got his fin. aid package too?? I still haven't received mine and all they had to do was revise it... :(

No no, I DID NOT get it yet, I called and the lady told me to wait for them to go over it before I get "rewarded". The call was to reaffirm that my application was indeed on time as opposed to being late which would result in me not getting my 8K grant.

@ Ric, yes they did. Oh and you seemed to have misspelled my name, the not isn't there. :)

so i got mine but the grant was a thousand dollars less :(

Did they take it out of the SD grant? so its like 7K now??

Man this sucks balls.

the ucsd grant for me was like 7996 now it was like 6786

Yeah ok thats the same as me, I hope they don't reduce mine..

wait? what is this for? my thing was due like, july 2nd.

Last year my PAN included a Cal Grant. When Cal Grant rejected me, UCSD upped the grant in aid.

i checked my account in my cal grant website and it says i was accepted for cal grant b ($1551) and qualified for cal grant A ($6,636). But my official award only awards only have cal grant b. so i called the admissions about it and they said you only get one type of cal grant. well, then why did they give me cal grant b instead of cal grant a? what's the big deal? anyone know why?

ihavenolife, I just checked mine and it said I qualified for cal grant A, but that cal grant B was "auto-accepted." When I looked at my other award sheet, it had cal grant A and B, and had code #1 under cal grant A:

You are eligible for both a Cal grant A and a Cal grant B. The award that shows an award amount was selected for you because it should give you the most benefit over the life of the grant. If you would rather be considered for the other grant listed, you should meet with a college financial aid counselor...

how can less money give us the most benefit? Maybe UCSD gives us less money if we accept A? I haven't received my fin. aid package yet

i you get cal grant B then next year you get cal grant B AND CAL GRANT A
and if you accept cal grant A right now your ucsd grant goes down considerably

ric, why would my ucsd grant go down considerably? is it possible if i can get cal grant A and still keep ucsd grant?

btw, i only got like $4700 for ucsd grant-in-aid, and I got like $8000 of federal grants.

I asked my fin aid counselor and she said that if you accept cal grant A then your ucsd grant goes down dollar per dollar which means that if you get A that is like 6 thousand dollars then your ucsd grant goes down 6 thousand dollars

wow that's pretty absurd....why would they do that? Cal grants are money funded from the state, not UCSD...so it shouldn't have anything to do with ucsd grant....am i right or what?

yes your right but you should ask your counselor maybe my counselor was wrong

alright i figured it out. ric was right, if you accept cal grant A, then they reduce your amount. I think you can ask them to replace cal grant B Stipend with cal grant A.

BUT, that means next year, you only get cal grant A of about 6000 dollars while people with cal grant B get 1551 dollars PLUS that 6000 dollars. Therefore, for second year, if you want to get cal grant B instead of A, then you can reapply for Cal Grant using the application. I'm pretty sure that's what you can do...but imma call the counselors tomorrow and ask them to make sure

I never received an email telling me my fin. aid was ready, but I checked tritonlink today and it was ready yesterday

AND THEY MADE THE SAME MISTAKE! It still says I'm living off-campus....all that waiting and it still says that!!!! should I just accept it or update it again???

my UCSD grant was cut in half ($4,213), but I received a new fed. supplemental grant, so my actual aid is about $200 more than my preliminary aid

for those of you who didn't receive the full UCSD grant, was your amount still around the preliminary aid amount?

and would it matter if I didn't correct them again and say I'm living on-campus and if I just accept the aid?
