Official George Mason University EA Results Class of 2021

did your son hear back?

Those that didn’t hear back, does your application show completed on Common App?

Yeah, it does. And it says that the deadline was 11/15, so I definitely applied EA. And on the VIP page it says “complete” and everything.

Same here

You know, I had a moment of panic that maybe my son forgot to apply EA via the Common App, and that’s why he wasn’t hearing anything. But I checked, and according to the CA, he did apply EA. On his VIP page, it says everything is complete.

I still haven’t gotten mine either, but I’m just chalking it up to a large number of applicants. The decisions are going out on a rolling basis, we’ll get them soon enough

My daughter did get an email and logged in to VIP to find out she was was accepted around 3:15PM. She had already been accepted into the BFA - Computer Game Design Program a month ago. So, maybe that’s why she found out earlier? She applied EA mid October. It did say in the acceptance letter that this was a historic year for the number of applicants they received . The most ever in GMU’s history. So, maybe this has something to do with all the differences in receiving decisions? Good luck to everyone!

We logged in last night a little after midnight and my D’s was already there. She applied Madon App/EA but not until Nov 15. Accepted and $32000 merit recognition. OOS.

is anyone else still waiting for their decision?

We are still waiting

still waiting also

A lot of the money awarded to out of state students is to offset the cost of tuition which is a higher rate than what in state students pay. A lot of students apply to Mason as a safety but don’t have intention of attending and they are aware of that. If you are serious about attending that should be reflected in your application and essays. Once you attend Mason you come to realize that there are many academically strong students at this school and that the curriculum is rigorous. There are a lot of opportunities for learning outside the classroom if one is genuinely interested.
Your four years is how you utilize the opportunities that are available to you. In the past years the school is getting recognition for its academics and being in a location where there are so many internship opportunities. As a result there is a rise in the number of applications and they advise if you are seriously interested in attending to apply Early Action. The honors program is great and helps when it comes to register for classes as you get priority registration.

I emailed my admissions office and he said they were having a problem campus wide regarding a computer issue. He said that he is working to get my decision to me as soon as possible, and that it might be on monday i find out.

It is now 11:30 am Eastern time, my son finally got the “official acceptance” letter after logging on countless times yesterday. He received it sometime around 10 am this morning and sent me a screen shot of it while at school. Yesterday he was able to log on but under the “Decision” details, it was blank, however the next row mentioned “Whats next as a student”, so we assumed he got accepted but didn’t know any details. I contacted GMU admissions on Twitter and Facebook, they gave me a quick response to give them a call today if that continues. I appreciated the prompt responses from them. The fact its a big school and they were able to do this made me appreciate that. No scholarship offered, maybe because he will have in state tuition as commented in the #51 response above. Also he got accepted into the Honors program which is what he wanted. Good luck everybody on your college acceptance and search in the coming year.

In regards to comment #51, I wish this suggestion was suggested BEFORE the EA application deadline, it would have been nice to indicate how serious he is to possibly attend GMU to maybe earn a scholarship, but no scholarships was offered. Makes me wonder how many on this link are out of state versus in state. Would love to know the STATS! Do any of you know how many students GMU typically accept to the Honors college versus just GMU students admitted? Thanks!

We are still waiting…

people who applied on 11/15 should call the admissions office. i just called and my application accidentally got put in the RD pile because it was on 11/15 even though I made the deadline. they said they would make the decision for me ASAP.

Just wanted to mention just because a student is accepted into the honors college that does not guarantee a scholarship. Also there must be an orientation for those accepted to the honors college. That will give you an opportunity to ask questions to a panel of current students.

Mason’s largest merit scholarship, University Scholars receive four years of enhanced mentoring from faculty and the program’s Director. Throughout their time at Mason, they participate in unique co-curricular experiences designed to help them develop as leaders, researchers, and engaged citizens.

Fifteen to 20 new students join the University Scholars each year. They’re selected from Honors College applicants who applied by the priority deadline, November 1. Finalists are identified by mid-January and invited to participate in an on-campus selection process, which takes place in late February.

Spoke to admissions an hour ago. They confirmed that there are problems with their system and that all decisions will hopefully be sent by Tuesday. I asked if decisions would be sent over the weekend and she said she didn’t know.

Just got my decision…
ACT: 27
Unweighted GPA: 3.7
Rank 7/47
Strong EC’s

Can anyone who received a scholarship tell me what their stats were?
