***Official Georgia Tech Class of 2019 Chances Thread***

Hey guys, since there seem to be a lot of chance requests going about, I figured we should have a consolidated place for chances!
Applicants who wish to be chanced should include the following information:

[ *] College (Business, Sciences, Computing, Engineering, etc.):
[ *] SAT Is:
[ *] SAT IIs (if sent):
[ *] ACT:
[ *] Unweighted GPA:
[ *] GT Weighted GPA:
[ *] Class Rank:
[ *] Other stats:
[ *] Subjective (ECs, special circumstances, etc):
[ *] Essays:

[ *] State or Country:
[ *] School Type:
[ *] Ethnicity:
[ *] Gender:
[ *] major strength/weakness:
[ *] Other Factors/questions:

To calculate GT Weighted GPA one should follow these instructions:

"We recalculate your high school GPA. We use a standard 4.0 grading scale, but only factor in the core curriculum courses (see below). For students taking AP, IB, or College level classes, we award an additional one-half point (0.5) for each course.

Core Curriculum: Grading Scale:
English (4 Units) A = 4.0
Math (4 Units) B = 3.0
Science (3 Units) C = 2.0
Social Science (3 Units) D = 1.0
Foreign Language (2 Units) F = 0.0

Example: If you take AP English and make a B, we would award you 3.5 pts."

I’d also like to kick it off :"> :stuck_out_tongue:

@predent pretty good chance because they don’t look at ACT reading or science.

Thanks so much!

Applying for CS

ACT: 31C, 34M, 34E, 31 Eng/Writ.
GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.3 W
APs: 11th - AP Bio, AP english
12th- AP chem, AP calc, AP psych
ECs:
NHS
Varsity Math Team - 1st place in school
Mu Alpha Theta
Volunteer at local hospital
Red Cross Club
Magna Cum Laude on National Latin Exam

Essay pretty bad, didnt put much thought to it. How much will this hurt my chances?

State: MD
Asian

@Prodigee‌ wait, they don’t look at the ACT reading or science? Just math and English?

@imagineer10‌ yes, just math, English, and Writing/English

@Prodigee‌

Stats are okay-good GPA and okay ACT (good subscores, 31 cumulative a bit low), ECs are not particularly outstanding (except maybe the latin thing). How did you do on you AP tests? Did you report them? And SAT IIs? If so did you report those and what were the scores? AP load may be a bit light. Considering you are OOS i’d put you at low reach or high match based on what I have right now

@predent have only taken bio AP test and got 3 so not sending. Got 750 on Bio subject test but didn’t send…

@Prodigee‌ Did you apply early, or regular? GaTech, as far as I know, for admissions mainly looks at stats. If you can still send your 750 Bio I would do it. If you applied early, you most likely cannot do so. If you applied early, however, you will have better chances. I still think it’ll be a high match, low reach for you as OOS student based on stats alone, but i’m sure you’ll be fine

@predent‌ i applied early

@Prodigee‌ Great! That should help your chances!

@predent‌ thanks so much for feedback

yep!

ACT 33
SAT subject test - 2360
AP - 5’s in 2 subjects
EC’s a whisker below solid
Class rank 2 in 186
Predicted external exam year 12 97.5%
Essays and supplements solid
9-12 grades almost all subjects have straight A’s
International Male Student Indian
Toefl score 111
All comments will be appreciated

Oh and all recommendations are pretty outstanding

SAT subject tests are out of 800, not 2400, did you mean the SAT Reasoning Test (SATI)?

Sat 2 2360
Math 1 760
Math 2 800
Physics 800
Didn’t give sat 1

Okay, SATIIs are not viewed collectively. Stats seem fine, what are your ECs. Specifics will help.
