it wasnt through the school. We started working on it in 7th grade and it grew nationally. We had about 40 teenagers investing with us. from around the country. We also had a board of trustees, who work at goldman sachs to double check everything before we made trades. Its called Brenerman Investment group. Look it up on google. Its now transformed into The Intelligent Teenager. Sadly, I left the firm to run my own app and web development company a little after hs started so all the credit on interviews (including cbs) went to the other two founders but oh well. I helped get it started). Now my company actually is designing the websites for the group and some of its clients.

dude that’s sick, nice job! :)

thanks @diddy123 hope that will aid my admittance.

it definitely will be the ‘wow’ factor that all applicants need! i’m really hoping that I have something like that too, especially in my organization. and i’ve been working with an organization that a current harvard freshman created so they’ll be familiar with it! especially cause he’s so active on campus with it

That’s cool, I didn’t even know what a hedge fund was in seventh grade, and most older teenagers don’t. Haha if you aren’t accepted there’s no way I will be. Unfortunately for me I haven’t founded any companies to date. Fortunately for me not all of Harvard’s applicants are that amazing(Wishful thinking?).

@neutrality yeah, Im going to assume that there are many applicants that have no wow factor accepted.

Yeah, the vast majority of Harvard applicants don’t have national awards, or some amazing accomplishment like bmonticello23…so don’t worry, there’s still spots for all types of people :)

As for you bmonticello23, lol. Perhaps Harvard’s got your name already on the acceptance list, since you were in middle school. :)

hahaha @terminatorp I wish!

I’m wondering Bmonticello, how many invested in the hedge fund? Were possible investors weary that it was run by High schoolers? haha, I mean to even invest in a hedge fund you need a net worth of over 1 million.

The hedge fund was by teenagers FOR teenagers. We had about 40 investing in the end with us, and there was a minimum investment of $3000.00. In addition to that, like I mentioned earlier, we had a board of trustees who monitored the final trade decisions who worked at goldman sachs and other places. We turned it into the educational appeal for parents that their kids would make money while at the same time learn about the stock market. Perhaps the proper term I should use is investment firm, even though hedge fund doesnt mean you need a nw of over 1 million.

Merde, bmonticello23. You gonna ruin everybody’s chances!

But seriously, though, that is an amazing accomplishment. My hat goes off to you, my friend!

Thanks! And I’m only one applicant. And please let’s talk about other people. I’m getting too much attention haha.

I’m going to my first ever official sporting event tomorrow! Woo!

Sweet! Which one?

Red Sox Game. What’s even better is that I don’t have to pay because my friend’s dad’s office has season passes that 3 other friends and I are borrowing for tomorrow!

That’s awesome! So anyways, who else is applying to Harvard?

I’m applying to Stanford SCEA, but I’m still applying to Harvard RD. I also have a friend who is applying SCEA to Harvard. Good luck! n__n

I’m applying to Harvard, but I’m still debating on whether I should go SCEA or RD… I never had an official visit or tour, but I was there for a few days back in February for a speech/debate tournament and loved it.

hey guys, one quick question. my school is awful and is making me decide between AP bio or physics honors for my senior year (no ap physics offered).the thing is, i’ve already taken honors bio and havent taken any physics and don’t want to graduate without it. which should i take? should i sacrifice the rigor? thanks!

Take physics, because I think it’s important to get at least a basic background in it before you head off to college. AP Bio is a breeze (I self-studied for it and got a 5), and you’ve already taken a biology class before. Physics should be a priority so you aren’t thrown into the deep end come time for college courses.
