Congrats to everyone else!

[] Teacher Recommendation (only if you saw it): n/a
[] Counselor Rec (only if you saw it): n/a
[] Interview: I thought it went really well. I got to learn a lot about the school and show my personality to admissions which was important to me. I am a very enthusiastic and energetic person, but it’s hard to make that come through on an application.
[/ul]Other

[ul]
[] Intended major: International Studies
[] Applied for financial aid: Yes
[] State (if domestic applicant): New Hampshire
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Income bracket: $100,000-$200,000
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): n/a
[/ul]Reflection

[ul]
[] Strengths: somewhat test scores, my Common App essay
[] Weaknesses: my supplement essays–pretty formulaic, not especially interesting; a slight decline in grades on mid-year report; not a lot of APs though my school offers a wide selection
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Supplement essays and the other weaknesses noted above. I considered myself a competitive applicant, and I think if I applied ED I would have gotten in.
[li] Other decisions: Eckerd College w/ $16k, American University Honors and Global Scholars w/ 20k, George Washington Honors w/ 15k, NYU, and NYU Abu Dhabi full scholarship
[/li]

[/ul]General Comments:
Although Hopkins was my first choice, I’m not heartbroken over the decision. I knew even if I was accepted I wasn’t likely to receive much financial aid. I’m planning on attending NYU Abu Dhabi with a full scholarship, and am really happy so I won’t be accepting a place on JHU’s wait list.

Writing (Write a brief description and Rate Quality on 1-10 Scale; 10 as Best):[ul]
[] Essays (Include Subjects):
[li] Common App: Rubik’s cube & how it impacted my personality and way I approach and solve problems; original & creative; 10+[/li][] Supplement 1 (Which Major?): Biophysics - I’ve already used it for research and now want to learn its more theoretical concepts; 7
[] Supplement 2 (Extracurricular Activites @ JHU): Continue playing jazz (alto sax), try out Quidditch, start Rubik’s cube club; 7
[] Other:[/ul]

[] Teacher Recommendation #2: 1 page. AP World teacher, like a mom to me. Rec is pretty run-of-the-mill, though. 7?
[] Counselor Rec: Saw afterwards, sort of a laundry list. 5
[] Additional Rec: Wrote it myself and got AP English teacher to sign it. Attests to outstanding writing talent and insight to reading literature (mostly true). 9
[] Interview: The guy emailed me but we had too many scheduling conflicts so I didn’t get one. Maybe that showed a lack of interest?
[] Art Supplement:
NO. there are more than enough people out there more talented than I am at violin, piano, and alto sax, combined. I am in jazz band though :)

Other[ul]
[] Date Submitted App: 3-4 days before deadline? O_O

Rubik’s cube - 15 second solves; sent a video of a 13.76-sec solve on a CD with my counselor’s rec and transcript and such. Hope they had fun with it  Great essay writing (?) I’ve been told I have a way with words, apparently HAHAHAS.

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: grades (spanish aside), rank, SAT IIs (I BEASTED ALL OF THEM YO!), Rubik’s cube! >:) MUAHAHAHA
[] Weaknesses: Asian, public school isn’t magnet or specialized (quite the opposite actually…), but doesn’t downright suck, either. It’s pretty moderate in terms of grades and smartness of people in general.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Essays weren’t the best I’ve written, since I left JHU towards the end to spend more time on my Princeton & other Ivy ones. There’s already one ED admit from my school (with significantly lower stats than me, which is interesting…), so that didn’t help either. Lack of interest? The interview request came really late so I didn’t bother to go out of my way and schedule it with my interviewer. He stopped replying too hahas :p.
[] What would you have done differently?:[/ul]
not much, really. maybe I should’ve paid more attention in my Spanish classes so my grades wouldn’t have been too terrible there HAHAHAS. might’ve gotten valedictorian too LOL :p
