Development- purpose
I don’t remember the grandma’s impressions question…
Uh I’m talking about the question when it asks you to contrast Siberian Elm with the prairie plant…

dictionary purpose was to explain the rise of need for a dictionary of the english language

@annesexton thanks. What about grandma one?

@Annesexton in the last two-three paragraphs of the passage, it listed the grasses or said the amount of grasses.
What I did, basically, was look at the choices, use my pencil, scan the entire passage for words in relation to that, and the ones I found, I’d read a sentence or two and put an “x” by the ones I knew it wasn’t until I only had one option left. I don’t remember what it was, though.

@alargeblackman

comparison of the siberian elm to the plant was that they had deep roots so the plant to recover easily from the burning

i don’t remembr contrasting that @alargeblackman14. Any other cues to help me remember?

yes!!! deep roots one was correct!Can anybody help me out with the purpose of the paragraph in the grandma 1?
- her impressions of them
- Why she felt close to home with them

yeah but in the passage they compared the banks of the missouri river to those of the yellow/yangtze river or whatever

talked about the extensive ridge patterns

and the other option i know was not it

process of elimination to grasses and it was something about 10 species of grass

@Annesexton
the last choice was something to do with sand dunes lol
can’t remmber i answer that or the one about the loess cloud water

@actstudent
Impressions because it was how she viewed them.

@actstudent

need more information to answer your question.

if you are talking about the warriors, it was that their tattoos were incomplete (they told a life story)

and the purpose of the paragraph about skin color was to give her impression of them

What was the question to the one about the word I. somethng like “On line… who is ‘I’ referring too” and the answer choices was Narrator, Grandmother, great-grandfather. It was the grandmother passage.

Can somebody please list the answers to the dictionary passage? if you remember

Oh right, is the burn invasive/poor soil question about why they burned it?
I think I put the native species have roots deep enough to survive.

yeah and they talked about how the loess covered the hills so that they looked like sand dunes

so

ridge patterns

sand dunes

loess yellow water

10 grass species

what the **** is it

The I in the first paragraph was the narrator I believe.

The question about why did they bring up the bird simile thing again took me a few minutes. I was like, why is dad not a choice? Then I realized it was her grandma’s dad :P

-----The grass species is what I put.

ok thanks guys!

whoever is sure about the answer to the siberian elm vs. root question, (annesexton you said you knew), what letter was the answer choice? I guessed A or F (first choice)

I vaguely remember putting the 2nd choice, or 3rd. I don’t remember it being the first or last xD

@annesexton i think i put loess cloud river on that one because they just tied that characteristic with the river they mentioned…idk
and i saw somewhere 2 paragraphs after that something about a dozen species of grass…
i didn’t really read carefully because i was short on time…
lol
