Official June 2012 SAT Talk & Countdown

@ stew17- CONGRATS!!! how did you prepare to jump from 590 to a perfect score in math? Course, self study books, practice tests? Please enlighten me!

is a 2050 bad if i studied for 1 week, practicing with 4 practice tests?

thats to say, could i potentially get it to a 2200 by october?

670 reading 680 math 700 writing (10 essay)

old scores: 720 math, 750 reading, 760 writing
new scores: 790 math, 720 reading, 800 writing

When applying, should I send both for a 2340 even though they would see my 720 math from before?
Or should I just send the new one, and not be able to show them the 750 in reading? I’m leaning towards sending both because 720 is LOW for math, but opinions?

Do colleges REALLY superscore, or will I be judged by my decrease in reading?

It’s strange that I can’t access my scores online. Once again, CollegeBoard fails.

[Not cool, bro.](Imgur: The magic of the Internet)

The suspense is killing me.

I got a 2060. I’m okay with that, not ecstatic; but hey, I’ll take 95th percentile.

CR: 650
M: 690
W: 720

Hi everyone! I took the June SAT, and got a score of 2130. ( Math-700, CR- 630, W- 800) I am wondering whether to take it again. I am in my senior high of high school, and October is my last chance to give the SAT. I am not sure of the colleges i wish to apply to; however, my preference is the ivy league or any of the other ‘top colleges’ there are. Furthermore, i am aware of my low CR score, and i have heard that a lot of colleges pay more attention to CR and Math than they do to Writing. Can anyone confirm this? Reverting back to my initial question, can someone please tell me whether it is advisable to give the SAT again, considering that i have to do well in my senior year too? (this was my second try, btw. I scored 1960 in the January SAT) And whether my score of 2130 is good enough?

stew17 - that’s amazing! How did you raise your score that much? I’m sitting in the god-awful 500’s right now and I’d LOVE to raise it! What did you use to study?

@User22 A lot of colleges do disregard the writing score. If you actually look at their websites, you’ll see that sometimes the average SAT scores are like 1400, which means only the CR and M scores are measured.
Some universities do look at writing, however. Not a lot of the ivies do, though.
There are websites that can help you to find colleges:

What I DO NOT recommend you do is take advice from students on forums on this site who have not even completed the application process. They will most likely tell you that “ivy leagues won’t accept you b/c of low SAT scores”, which is not true because colleges look at the entire package.
 Hope this helps. And I hope you take my advice!

And your SAT scores ARE NOT low. 2250+ won’t guarantee you an ivy league.

As the OP, I HIGHLY recommend [College Admissions](http://collegeapps.about.com/) for SAT scores and application help. Great job everyone!

Thanks for your input, myraven11. Yes, that’s what i thought too. I guess i’m going to try for a university that looks at the writing score then, since it’s my best score outta the 3. I know, i am currently consulting a guidance counselor as well; i was just looking for some advice out here. Thanks for the advice! :)

2360 for me.
800 CR/770 Math/790 Writing/10 Essay

Hey, I’m very happy, so I probably won’t take them again. Is there any reason I should though?

@Auxiliatrix Yes. It is horrible. Why didn’t you get a perfect score? You’re going to community college. Smh -__-

Stop being dissatisfied and greedy. Your score is fine.

That wasn’t what I meant. I just don’t know a whole lot about the SAT process. I signed up and showed up and took my test (once) and that is about it. People here seem knowledgeable about what colleges want and what scores actually mean, and I see many of them taking the test more than once. I was just curious if there is some sort of advantage to this in my case and I apologize if I came off as greedy or dissatisfied.

Looked around the forums more, the consensus seems to be that there’s no reason to retake at scores in this range unless you’re sure you can hit 2400, and that retakes are for superscoring/major improvements. I didn’t know what superscoring was. In that case, I am feeling confident and I am glad I have this test out of the way. Good luck to everyone in their college applications.

@myraven That’s seems kind of harsh… I don’t think Auxiliatrix was saying that at all…

Predicted:
800 W, 780 M, 760 CR – 2340
Actual:
800 W, 760 M, 750 CR – 2310

I’m happy; I made my 2300 goal!! :)

Okay guys!! I have really stopped hoping for the scores to be wrong! Now I have a question for u guys can I increase my scores by 300+ in 4 months with regular practice…??? I am somewhere in the 1700s…(without practice!)

:blush::smile:

Actually with practice for June it went down…even though I knew and thought I would get a better score…

:blush::smile:

Does anybody know what time score reports will be available?
