i think it was b, wasn't it?

a. four
b. five
c. six
d. seven
e. eight

?

Yeah it was b, five.

----On the painting question, when he points out the monkey in the painting, he is calling attention to a discordant something. It asked for the purpose of the question in context--the Francis dude was calling his colleagues' attention to the fact that the monkey was hanging from its tail--a DISCORDANT detail when compared to the time period the painting "should have" been painted in.

----The reason why the answer to the Japanese poem question is "trite" is because the woman in the passage found that the poems often had "cliche" endings--like women would find salvation if they worked in the kitchen etc etc. It explicitly said "cliche" and another word to the same effect--which lead me to that conclusion.

akai: I believe in that grammar question that the error was the preposition. I forget what exactly it was, but I'm pretty sure it was the conformity ---- that was wrong.

yeah, it was "of" conformity, or something like that

bio you are wrong about the women. i forgot the right answer but that was the wrong one.

and yes conformity part was wrong it should say to conform or sth

On the alien communication passage, there was a question about what one guy believed when he said "It's only fair" for Earth to send out its own communications as well as listen to the communications of extraterrestrials. What was the answer to that? I put something along the lines of "With listening comes obligations" since the guy talked about fairness. The other answer choices dealt with diplomatic decorum, heightening chances of communications, etc. I was leaning towards the "heightening chances" one, but in the text it mentioned that some SETI people were really optimistic about achieving contact, so I didn't think that one would apply.

I'm quite positive the question asked about the author's opinion towards the Japanese womens' poems--In which case the answer is that they are trite. The word cliche was explicitly stated in reference to the endings of many of the female-authored poems.

Rox Yore--I got that same answer (obligations) for your first question. The question dealt with the guy who thought it was unfair to just listen to transmissions and not deliberately send any out. The other dude, however, I think took the "thoughtful prudence" (?) stance.

Yeah I got thoughtful prudence for the other one.

Wait, for the trite one, is that where one of the answers was political?

what were the other choices besides DISCORDANT on the monkey painting one?

what does thoughtful prudence mean??

guys what did u put for:

"the gardners will use fertilizers if they can be shown to increase crop proudction..." (or something like that...) i put A (as it is...)

I know vehement changed it...but what abt u bio, and rika, and rox yore and collegehopeful???

I remember being hung up on it, but I can't remember what I put. I think I either put No Error or B/C. Sorry, can't help you.

jksbond: prudence just means being cautious/careful.

"the gardners will use fertilizers if they can be shown to increase crop proudction..." (or something like that...)

it would most probably "they", because its an ambig. pronoun. Does it refer to gardners or fertilizers? YOU ANSWER THAT. it should be "it"

it? but its fertilizers. they should be replaced with fertilizers i think?

but that wasnt a choice...was it??? all of them had either they or them...

1 they
4 them i think

passive = good at times to me

oh it was a improving sen one? nvm then...i don't rmbr it, but it would have to be the sen. with they then...czu them just doesn't make sense.

do u guys think 2 wrong for our CR will be an 800, cuz i have been hearing that 2 wrong on all of the CRs (on actual tests given since march) have been 800s...??
