Official June SAT II US History Thread

jumps up and down

I also remember reading somewhere the sentence that you just said-- word for word, Senor. :p

what the hell is with all these SAT threads. have you really nothing better to do than analyze every inane question on a test you can no longer do anything about?

just wondering.

edit: don't let my bitterness deter you. i'm just tired of seeing these SAT threads come up on the top of the new posts section.

senor, #77 wasnt that question. that was #62. quit *****in at me

when do scores come back for this test

cbxc10, it just makes some of us feel better...but you're definately right, there is really no purpose in arguing over answers.

But also, some of us can learn the stuff we didn't know from people who do.

scores come back 6-20 i heard

What was the black/white poster one? I don't remember that at all. What were other answer options?

What was the answer to the question with the state's admission being deferred (or something like that) because the citizens(or something like that) practiced polygamy? I remember that some of the choices were Utah, Oregon, and Oklahoma/Ohio...

That was Utah. Mormons...

Utah/ just think about the mormons

i put utah b/c the mormons live there.

The Congregational question was about congreationalists in the Puritan society. The Puritan community grew so rapidly and successfully that they were forced to break off into separate communities, in which the congregations or churches were the foremost authority. The congregations worked as the government.

For the MLK question, the answer was definitely Thoreau. The question even included the phrase "civil disobedience," and Thoreau wrote a famous essay entitled "On Civil Disobediance."

Dang it, I almost guess cattle on the Trail question but I was too afraid I'd get it wrong!

ok.. at least i know i got 1 question right ;) lol... thanks.

i got the congregation one wrong :(

There was one question about what hampered the American Revolution the most...one answer choice was lack of funding. What were the other choices and which one was correct?

also.."** One answer was the Russian Revolution **"...
What was the question, what were the answer choices, and which one was correct?

at least you got the congregation one wrong, i got the mcarthy one wrong. As i read that question, i thought to myself that only an idiot could get it wrong. Then i put General Macarthur instead of joseph mccarthy.

For the Revolution one, the other choices were Benedict Arnold's treachery, Washington's lack of military experience, Tory resistance, and ... something else.

I don't remember the Russian Revolution one at all. Or the black/white poster.

^The lack of funding was what I put for that one. For some reason, I remembered one chapter I read somewhere where at bunker hill they ran out of ammunition so they fired metal knives, rocks, etc from their cannons...

not sure if that's relative AT ALL, but I just thought that since they lacked funding, they lacked materials, so they eventually retreated some battles due to these types of conflicts.

lack of funding was correct

others included:
states wouldn't call up army
Loyalists hindered fighting

the b&w poster was a cartoon by nast, with a black soldier on crutches being guided/presented/comforted by a white woman.

russian revolution doesn't ring a bell for me either
