Official June SAT II US History Thread

dualityim:
you're an a** man. like senor said, the answer choice said complete control, and i threw that one right away b/c i knew it was divided b/w portugal and spain. that's a known fact to everyone, and it's by no means "reading too much into the question." in fact, it's obvious one where someone who doesn't think (you) gets the question wrong.

I don't remember it saying complete control. If in fact it did I must be wrong then. Good luck.

how would spain bringing diseases be their biggest impact? The English brought their own diseases. Plus, what did all the Indians dying in south america have to do with the United States?

ryanC,

What other choice was there for that question? the disease one was the best choice

I mean, the US History text that I have has its first three chapters in part dedicated to other areas of the Americas, including modern day Canada, as well as Middle and South America. I believe the question also asked for a time period before any significant British colonization.

I talked to my US history teacher last night and he at first agreed with the disease answer. But then after i presented my case he began to agree with me. However, by the end he stated no matter what the merit of my argument is, the bottom line is that the "columbian exchange" of food and disease is the stock answer to that type of question.

So I will trust your answer. I still have hope for my 800 without it.

scores are up!

How did it go for everyone?

i got a 700- on the practice tests i was getting 640

780!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a 760 and i thought i was going to get a 700 according to what i read on this thread

800! I'm suprised and thrilled.

770! OMG I own.

Would it be worth it to retake a 750?

It depends: If you plan to take others in the fall, focus your energy there; If thats the only one you'd take and you want to spend the summer prepping, go for it.

A 750 is a phenomenal score.

790...w00t

personally, the score I received was higher than the one i was anticipating based on this thread

800- not surprised,but happy

im satisfied.....got a 750

740 makes me happy..I was getting high 600's on practice ones

770... good stuff

800....hopefully this is a good sign for my coming AP score!
