Official McGill Class of 2011 Admissions Decisions

haha! i'm sorry rideltrain i'm causing you issues haha. I am just kiind of at my whits end b/c i've only gotten into one music school, and i don't particularly care one way or the other for it, so it's kind of like if i don't get into mcgill i won't be happy (to my knowledge.)

I read a great article the other day about a guy who didn't get accepted to his dream school, but at the suggestion of his counselor went to another school he hadn't even heard of. At that other school he found his wife, and after graduation became the boss of several grads from his original dream school.

Jeremy I think you need to cool off and realize that the happiness you achieve during your next four years will all be in your head. You won't be happy anywhere else if you don't WANT to be happy any where else.

p.s. I hope this tone doesn't get interpreted wrong, I'm being sincere, and I hope nothing but the best for you.

jeremy,

i didnt get into my dream school. i was heartbroken, devastated. i didnt know what to do and i thought i could never be happy again.
then i got into mcgill. best decision of my life.

but-mcgill pretty much IS my dream school. i mean, i'll live i suppose. i survived getting rejected from northwestern. no harsh feelings. but this is more serious. oh well! Let us see what happens in the next few days. I'm also seriously considering Tulane, never visited, but i got accepted for music.

and barnard was my dream school. and i got rejected.

but the point is that there are tons of school out there and there is more than one school for everyone

General Comments: Decided to attend McGill instead of Northeastern, WPI, UMass, or McMaster University. McMaster was nice and all, and I applied to UofT Scarborough, but I'm set on McGill at this point because of their excellent reputation, the total cost for an international student, and what I perceive as overall excellent academics. Still no decision from UofT yet, and their admissions process was confusing, so I gave up on them.

^^

Go to McGill, and avoid U of T scarborough, because it is BORING as hell there.

Agreed, B407.

beatlespwr:
are you going to mcgill?
i thought for sure that i wouldn't get into barnard, so I almost sent in my deposite for mcgill. then the next day my letter came...
but if it hadn't, mcgill would have been the place for me. it isn't so bad!

My son found out from Minerva that he was in for double bass performance about a week ago. He is also in for Science but plans to do music. He has got "the phone book" mailing from McGill with other info. He was into Science the week before . Last week he got a phone call from a student who said she could see that he was accepted for both. Call the Music school and persist. Perhaps voice results are not out yet, so keep trying. Best of luck.

i am at mcgill, i'm a first year.

I was accepted to Western, McGill, Grinnell and Hamilton. Right now I'm having a hard time deciding between these schools. I'm probably going to apply for grad school in the US, in law or econ or political science. Anyone know which school will be the best?

McGill seems to be the most reputable of those to me.

Jeremybeach-- i too am seriously considering Tulane (visited...its amazing) but am also waiting to hear back from McGill, which has been my "dream school" for quite some time now. so i'm in the same boat!!

haha! it's DEF good to know somebody's in the same boat as i am in because mcgill is also my dream school...but i will go to tulane if i don't get in..SO MAYBE we'll end up at the same school lol.

McGill seems like an excellent place, and I'm looking forward to studying there in the fall.
Congratulations to all who have been accepted, good luck to those still waiting to hear.

hey andrewcharlesw, when did you hear back from them? my stats are around the same as yours, and i've been put on "decision pending" for weeks!

rejected music. life's over, been nice everyone!

Jeremy: So sorry to hear the news- I know how much you wanted to be in Montreal. But,Tulane is an excellent school, in some ways better and more personal than McGill. And New Orleans is an interesting place--especially as it tries to redesign itself. Best of luck, I think you will be very happy in the long run. My d. has a friend who goes there and he really likes it. He attended Dartmouth for the first year following Katrina and likes Tulane 10x more.

Jeremy, You have passion and a big heart, I love that. It'll make you a success at Tulane and in music. Your next four years will be the best years of your life and you will not look back and wish you had done anything differently. We all get fixated on things and then later look back and wonder why we did. You will rise to the TOP.
