Does anyone know what decision day is most likely to be? I was thinking that it might be the 12th since it has been the second Thursday of December for the past two years, but before last year it was always on the 14th so it might just be the 13th again this year? I REALLY hate that they don’t give us any advance notice as to when decisions come out, I don’t want to spend my whole Thursday freaking out to not even end up with a decision that day. Any insight would be super super appreciated and I’m sending the best of luck to all of you and good vibes to anyone else who is also a bit ~on the edge~!
I did not apply for financial aid and did not get the email about my SSN. Is this a bad sign?
How many people who did not apply for financial aid get the email?
To be honest, I think it might be a technical glitch - it came the day Quest Bridge applicants got their notifications, so maybe it got crossed the streams in the system because we waived need based financial aid?
Received the email as an international student.
Is this going to be the LOOOONGEST 3-4 days of everyone’s lives or what?!
It’s the home stretch, guys! I could not be any more anxious/nervous! Best of luck to everyone this week!
I got it too and I didn’t apply for financial aid – no clue what it means though.
Hi!! I’m a freshman at Northwestern, and I remember how crazy stressful this whole process was, especially these last few days before decisions. Here is my insight:
-I tried finding patterns and doing all the things, but there’s is really no way to predict when it’ll come out
-They post on the official admissions Instagram page the second they release decisions, so that’s how I found out they were out before I saw the email, I want to say it was around 4:30 pm
-also, I was deferred ED and then admitted in the spring!!! So if that is the letter you receive, do not lose all hope yes, it’s extremely disappointing, but you are still in the running!! It’s just as if you submitted an RD application rather than an ED one. And honestly, looking back on this process, I remember how nervous my friends and I were and I just know that wherever we did or didn’t get in, we are all extremely happy now. So just remember so see the big picture in all of this. Best of luck!!! You will be great whatever happens.
@enyun2019 Did you receive the financial e-mail that others are mentioning of when you applied early decision? I have not received any e-mails from Northwestern apart from the interview request and I am a little nervous at the moment. Also, did you make any changes to your application when you got deferred to the regular decision pool?
Thank you.
Hey y’all. Any update on when we should get our decisions back? My admissions counselor thinks December 15 might be unlikely because that’s a Sunday, so she’s thinking possibly Thursday or Friday or the following Monday. Any thoughts?
I feel like it could be Thursday as that is when a lot of other schools have said they are releasing decisions and last year’s NU decisions came out Thursday, Dec. 13. However, I could see Friday as that is Dec. 13 and closer to Dec. 15
I have a gut feeling they are going to release it on Thursday, but I also do not want to be getting my hopes up. I wish there was some way to tell.
Northwestern has been really quiet this year…I wonder if Thursday is going to be it?
I just called the admissions office and they said “you will receive your decision by the end of the week” and when I asked if she meant Thursday or Friday she just repeated that line. So it looks like it’s one of those two days!
@nw2024… Thanks so much for the update. It will be nice to know before the weekend. ??
I’m still really nervous about that financial e-mail… does anyone know if there’s any correlation between that and admissions?
I didn’t get it, but I also didn’t apply for financial aid at all.
I hope my daughter gets in…but in the more likely event she does not it will save us a heck of a lot of money. We are in the FAFSA is a waste of time boat and she has very nice scholarship offers elsewhere so not going to Northwestern would save us $200K+. I did say I hope she get in!
Saw that the school Instagram posted a Baby Yoda gif with a “2024 ED announcement coming soon” caption.
@fingerscrossedxx There are two financial e-mails. One was sent by CollegeBoard at Northwestern’s direction to people who did not fully complete their financial aid documents. This e-mail certainly does not have any association with admissions. The second financial e-mail was sent by Northwestern requesting a social security number to be attached to a 1098-T form. This e-mail redirected its recipients to a student page for Northwestern University that requires a Northwestern provided password. A 1098-T form is a tuition statement that is sent to students currently enrolled in the university and will show the amount a student paid for in qualified expenses. The e-mail was intended to go a current student at the University, which is why there was a redirect to a Northwestern page that requires a given password. I did some research and found no evidence that applicants accepted through early decision receive a request to provide a social security number on a 1098-T form. I do not believe that the Northwestern e-mail and the CollegeBoard e-mail have any association with potential acceptance.

from what I’m aware of, I believe that finance has to be separate from the admissions process, which means there should be no correlation between admissions and finance.
