Official Pepperdine Waitlist Thread

Competitiveness certainly spiked this year. Family friends, who are Pepperdine alums, are all shocked that I did not get in, some even offered to make calls on my behalf.

I’m very disappointed, and to be honest, confused. I was accepted at far more rigorous schools, and only wished to attend Pepperdine because, having visited the campus and met with the faculty, it feels like a place where I could grow spiritually as well as mentally.

Owell…

How exactly does this “waitlist” work? If not enough people registered, then Pepperdine looks through each of our applications again and then decides if we’re in? Or is it an automatic yes/no on June 1?

& Do those accepted from the waitlist usually get offered less financial aid?

^^ Supposedly they don’t rank the waitlist. Not to be a downer, but according Pepperdine’s Common Data Set, they took 0 students off the waitlist last year, if I am reading it correctly. So we all need to be looking at Plan B, sadly. Not that it’s impossible, as every year is different. But I am revising expectations and mentally moving on, and will be pleasantly surprised if it happens.

Correction to the above - they took 0 off the waitlist for 2008-2009. They did not indicate a number for 2009-2010 in their CDS this year. I don’t know what that means - I am going to spin it to mean good things, ie that they had to take a ton from the wait list this past year and just didn’t want to say so. Spin spin spin :).

Last year they accepted more then usually thinking the economy was going to hurt admissions. But that was not the case since this is currently the biggest freshman class ever.

Man this is not fun :frowning: Pepperdine is by FAR my first choice school… I really just have such a peace in my heart about Pepperdine… So I’m trusting God that it will all work out!

if so, how the hell did you go about it? i cant find any info on how to verify my citizenship…thanks in advance!

Has anyone heard from Pepperdine that accepted the waitlist option?

Hi! I just found out that I got off the waitlist yesterday… but have deposited a commitment to USC where I was accepted into their Business and Cinematic Art Major. I can’t decide what to do! Advice?

asdf1314 - Are you happy going to USC? Go with whichever school where you want to spend the next four years. If you’re looking at cinematic arts, I’d stick with USC.

Asdf - How were you notified? Snail mail, email or wavenet update?

If you are taken off the waitlist how long do they give you to commit?

So anybody else get an email today from Pepperdine today saying this:

Thank you for your patience over the last few weeks as we have completed the admission process. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you a place for the Fall 2010 semester. Our fall class has been filled, and we do not anticipate any activity off of our waitlist.

Yep :frowning: bummer.

so does this mean that they didnt accept anybody off the waitlist when they say “we anticipate no activity off of our waitlist”
