Seeing as Physics C has it's own thread and school will begin shortly, I though I'd open a Physics B thread.

Hurrah for rising juniors.

Hurrah for rising juniors.

If you guys end up needing any help on Physics B, feel free to let me know. I took it last year, and got a 5.

I have a lot of info on my site as well, but I’d love to help with specific questions if they come up.

I’ll probably self-study it next year as a sophomore w/PR and maybe Barron’s, just to test the waters of physics before going all-out junior year and taking Physics C: Mech (and self-studying E&M). The thing is, I’m also taking AP Bio and Honors Chem, so I’m a little iffy about tripling up in science…

Any advice for preparation before the school year like learning formulas, concepts… that would have been helpful going in to AP Physics?

@tkr116 it’s helpful to have vectors down before you start school, and be solid on your basic trig.

if any of you need help, especially with thermo/fluids, feel free to message me… my school doesn’t exactly have a good history with this class, but I somehow managed a 5 and it wasn’t as hard as everyone made it out to be. good luck everyone! (:

Good luck everyone! Apparently the '11-'12 exam was considerably more difficult than the previous years.

Has AP Physics changed in anyway for the 2013 Test? I want to buy a Princeton Physics B prep book for 2008 or 2009 for cheaper ahha.

which review book is the best for physics? PR? Barron’s? 5 Steps? I’ve been hearing a lot of different things which haven’t helped me at all at making this decision.

PR is great! I used the 2007 edition for the 2012 test and it worked, and as far as I know, the test hasn’t siginificantly changed from last year’s.

Where are you guys in terms of subject material? My class is doing friction on inclines. We are on Ch 4 in Giancoli.

haha you guys are so fast…we are on 1D motion
it’s ok though since i’m self studying C

We just finished collistions.

I’m going to have a test on conservation of energy, spring, and circular motion next week. We’re using Giancoli so that would be Ch 5 and 6.

Our exam on Work, Energy, and Power is next week, and then we’ll be on to Momentum.

We are done with kinematics, and currently on fluid mechanics.

^What, that’s so fast. Do you do any labs?

Anyway, does anyone have curved grades in this class?

^Yep, here’s our scale:

A+ 95.0%
A 85.0%
A- 75.0%
B+ 70.0%
B 60.0%
B- 50.0%
C+ 45.0%
C 40.0%
C- 35.0%
D+ 33.0%
D 30.0%
D- 25.0%
F 0.0%

Currently holding onto that B- for dear life.

^I’m so jealous. I don’t know our scale but it’s probably like A - 85%, B - 75%, C - 65%
But then again maybe your tests are super harder than mine.

Wow, mine’s A - 93% B - 85% C -77% D - 70% F - below 70

^ I would murder the teacher.
