Official Post-test October Sat Ii Biology Thread

I put polio in surviving in government, but that's probably wrong... how good/bad do you guys think the curve will be? (and I too put bilateral symmetry) Oh and the yeast centriole one i left blank. What's the right answer there?

So far we have...
1) moss on tree - commentualism
2) mutualism
3) clown fish - mutualism
4) advantages of living in groups of gulls EXCEPT - increased resistance to disease

13) rapid mobility - bilateral symmetry
14) centrioles found only in animal cells
15) plastids found only in plant cells
16) ribosomes found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes

hey can i join the aim chat? what is it?

what is the one with the tobacco?

Hey guys, is the AIM chat still going on?
I only just got home... :)

1) Moss + tree - commentualism

Question: what were the answers to the ones about the presence/absence of a centriole and the plasmid being inherited by daughter cells and the mutation involving proteins/hemophilia.

23) Hardy-Weinberg and constant ratios - random mating
24) Break up of Pangaea - continent distinctive species

26) chordates are described by all of the following EXCEPT - (can't remember wrong answer)

What did you guys get for the protein purification ones?

The yeast inheritance answer was that centromere connects to the microtubule.

18) Description of a macromolecule that breaks down others in the small intestine - came from colon

[/quote]

Are you sure it was colon? I don't think the colon secretes any digestives enzymes. I put pancreas, since it secretes enzymes like trypsinogen and pancreatic lipase, which are secreted into the small intestine

for protein purification i put that it should be stored in a cool environment to prevent denaturing.

Does anyone know what the curve might be for this test?

I left about 6~7 blank (cause i had NO clue whatsoever) and probably got about 5 wrong. Over 700, possible?

bump .

can someone post a compiled list of questions and answers so far?

1) Moss + tree - commentualism
2) Insect + tree - mutualism
3) Clown fish + anemone - mutualism

5) Leading cause of death - malaria
6) Cured with anitbiotics - strep throat
7) Surviving strains are located in government - Smallpox

That test was harder than I expected. I didn't like the grasshopper. I got all 3 wrong :-(.

I got what most ppl got on here; I skipped like 5 questions overall :-(.

@dustbowl: For 43 I got something about like terrestial land and dehydration.

I got pancreas for that question with protein digestion.

This was on the molecular section:
48) The bacteria experiment conclusion why dish 5 had no anitbiotic action - E. coli resistant to the anitbiotics? =\

I hate except questions. There were TOO many

No the blood question should be laying down...that would stop the flow to the blood...PANCREAS!!! Does the prokaryote question DO aerobic repsiration (beginning life?)

45) if a father is O positive then the child is O positive?

can't be it's ii

it asked for the child could be all EXCEPT

AB.

Btw this test was like a similar replica of June 2004 SATII Biology
Check it out here: http://www.collegeconfidential.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?69/7078

50) flower question dealing with reproduction...EXCEPT - something about the ovule doing something weird for a flower

It was Ovules are transfered from flower to flower, which is wrong since Pollen Grains (male gametophytes) are being transfered.
