Official RD 2020 Thread

Also, that one person was also basing that off of last year’s decisions.

this is what i don’t understand about cc. this is a discussion thread; we are MEANT to discuss different things about the admissions process, but some get ticked off when people talk about potential signs/decision release dates. i’m not trying to create any drama, but can we seriously stop telling people to “chill out” in threads

Is it still possible that decisions could be today?

still could be released at 4:30 like ed this year.

My definition of “very soon” would be today…or at least sooner than Thursday

@jewelz4 Yeah, my interpretation of “very soon” was today. Hopefully 4:30 or 5? Crossing my fingers

hope so

Last year they released to today’s corresponding date, true. But two years ago they released one week later on what would’ve been the coming Saturday. I’ve heard several rumors about varying dates, the latest of which is apparently that they’re notifying tomorrow and will release wednesday, and that apparently a counselor told them this and blah blah blah. It’s not fair that some parent or student comes on here and thinks that some minor rumor that spreads like wildfire is true and they end up anxious for thirty minutes or an hour or five hours only to find out the decision is another six days away. I’m just trying to slap a big disclaimer on this thing.

not 4:30

@collegeeeeee I agree wholeheartedly. It is very condescending to tell others to chill out about something that matters a lot to them. We are all different individuals with unique values and temperaments, and you should never scorn someone for caring about something more than you do. If you don’t feel the same way about something as someone else, don’t criticize them. Be respectful.

What an age this is… How the hell is it ‘‘very condescending’’ to tell someone to chill?

You all need to chill - there, I said it. One decision does not make or break your future - and if it does, you need to rethink how much weight you’re putting on something you can’t control. Going to one specific school in one specific place doesn’t define you - you do.

Caring about something and spreading rumors like the plague are two entirely different concepts. Vanderbilt has notified every decision beforehand including the two early decisions. There’s no reason to expect it would be different. All this speculation is just aimlessly getting the hopes up of not only yourselves but to endless numbers of applicants. And if you’re personally offended by “chill out” on an online forum you might as well sell your computer.

Guess it’s not 4 either.

it was 6:30 est for ed1 and ed2

People in the thread earlier in the weekend were saying that Vanderbilt finished making decisions on Thursday and Friday. What would hold them off from posting the decisions to applicants’ portals if this was true?

It could either be that whoever the people got this rumor from aren’t reliable sources or that it may take time to input all that data and prepare the servers. Or it may take time to assemble mailing materials, set up accepted dashboards, etc.

No reason to get annoyed, and thus belittling what people hold close and deep to them, at excitement and anxiety of the decision release. So no, do not “chill out,” keep doing you. This is a very exciting process, it is also a very nerve racking and anxious process. Maybe decisions will be released later this evening, maybe on Thursday, maybe next Saturday, maybe April 1st. Who knows? But that does not mean someone can tell another person to stop speculating because that is not only disrespectful to the person, but to the process as a whole.

With that being said, I really hope nobody took “chill out” to be offensive. Yes, it can be disrespectful, but it is not offensive.

I didn’t mean for this to be a big deal and I’m not the one who blew it up into one so can we please stop talking about it? I clearly wasn’t telling people not to value the decision or bottle up their anxiety I’m just saying not to give in to petty rumors which have little to no actual, non-circumstantial basis. Apparently spreading rumors is part of the process though so sorry for trying to warn people before hand and save them some unnecessary self-inflicted worry. Chill out everyone and go do something better than argue about “chill out” on the internet.

6:30 maybe hopefully?
