Official RD 2020 Thread

@pleaseacceptme99 I thought that was the case, but I know people who have dropped out of their universities, yet are invited to alumni events and are considered alumni. Perhaps the fact that they donate large sums of money to their university has something to do with it.

@pleaseacceptme99 I think that means you got in! I’m not saying congrats yet on the off-chance that I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure that’s a good sign

@humanperson that must be it

@pleaseacceptme99 It’s also probably directly proportional to how much press they bring their university. I doubt Harvard will be denying dropouts like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg alumni status. Either way, it’s not much of a big deal. I think it’s pretty awful that some places even take alumni status into consideration.

Just got the email - Seattle, last name B

@lightsy I don’t know. I don’t think it’s indicative of anything. I also got the request for Harvard and I highly doubt I’ll be getting in there.

My dad and his brother went to Owen ( the business school)
Would that count as legacy?

Got email on Mar 21 at 10:25 PM. live in NC, last name F

What emails are you guys talking about? The only email I got from Vandy was one in which they sent the portal and one yesterday in which they said to check decisions on 23rd.

When large batch emails go out–say a store like American Eagle sends out a sale notice–those emails are often delayed by servers on the receiving end. They each have their own process of processing those emails. So when Vandy sends out a batch email, it will arrive in different people’s mailboxes at different times depending on their server. Don’t read anything into the fact someone gets an email before or after you do. Ditto for mass email you receive from any other college.

Got the email at like 12:26

I got the email and i know I’m accepted b/c I’m an Ingram scholar.

@pleaseacceptme99 Yes, but Harvard, I believe, requests IDOC from every applicant. Vanderbilt says they only ask for it from accepted students. Anyway, we’ll find out soon. Good luck!

did anyone else get the IDOC email?

I can’t sign into the admission portal. Does anyone know why? It says there’s an error when I say forgot password.

So if we don’t have an IDOC request from Vanderbilt, does that mean I didn’t get in?

I figure that if you already uploaded forms to IDOC then maybe Vanderbilt won’t email you an IDOC request. So if some of your schools already require IDOC forms, then you won’t get an email from IDOC saying that you need to resubmit forms…they are just automatically sent becuase they are already on the IDOC server.

According to the Vanderbilt website: “Instructions for Submitting Documents to IDOC: If you are accepted for admission, you will receive a separate email from the IDOC Service, providing instructions on how to submit 2015 federal tax forms. Upload or mail your tax return packet directly to IDOC. If multiple schools to which you are applying participate in IDOC, you only need to submit the information to IDOC once. This information will be sent to all participating schools.”

So maybe if you already submitted then you won’t receive an email because you only need to submit your forms once?

I didn’t get an IDOC request…not sure if that means I didn’t get in…but I still have a little bit of hope

I got mine around February 4th since some of my other schools require IDOC docs from all applicants. I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions based on a rumor anyways.

What is IDOC?
