I'm not all that upset, really. My parents were all concerned that I was going to start crying or something. The reality is, G-town was a big fence school for me - i battled for a long time over it. Basically it was, Best Foreign Relations Program vs. Homogeneous and Far Away. I'm just discouraged that this is an indicator of what I can expect from other reaches. oh well. Congrats to all who got in, for those who don't, you'll be happy elsewhere.

Surprised and confused, after my interviewer said i had a "great shot" of being accepted. I probably will keep my name on the waitlist, and write a letter explaining that I still really want to go to Georgetown, which is true...

Decision: Accepted (SFS)

Stats:

SAT: 1570 (800m 770v)

Essays: okay, probably not great, but not terrible either- I did them sort of last minute

Teacher Recs: excellent, I assume

Counselor Rec: as good as it could be for having a councelor who deals with a few hundred kids

Hook (if any): none

Location/Person:

State or Country: CA (yay, the postal service did not fail me!)

School Type: public

Ethnicity: white

Gender: female

Other Factors:

*I had strong scores and gpa, that probably helped to off-set my marginal essay. I also had "demonstrated intent" (or whatever) in regards to my major/school choice because of my ECs. My interview also went really well, but I don't know if that really mattered.

To those despairing over being waitlisted, I actually read that GT is one of the only (if not the only) colleges where being on the waitlist actually means you have a shot of getting in (as opposed to other schools where it's more or less a rejection). So keep your hopes up.

Decision: Accepted (MSB)

Essays: I liked them, though they were nothing spectacular in terms of writing style and content

Teacher Recs: don't know

Counselor Rec: good, though it seemed kind of formulaic and generic

Hook (if any): Can't think of anything

Location/Person:

State or Country: California

School Type: public

Ethnicity: Hispanic

Last year, Georgetown accepted no one off the wait list.
