21%, like it said in the letter

I didn't intend to start a debate with my first post, and I apologize to those of you who are frustrated that this decisions thread became another AA debate.

I'm not necessarily saying AA is something that should be eliminated entirely. I just don't see how it makes sense in my case. Perhaps they should look beyond just blacks, hispanics, etc.

Trust me, my high school is no where close to a top-quality school. The quality of our teachers, counselors, school equipment has always been very questionable. Our high school is practically falling apart and budget cuts are still being made. And there's definitely much more to me as a student than a decent SAT score, I've taken advantage of every single one of the very few opportunities that come my way in a sh-t state like mine, so don't assume anything you don't know.

But anyways, like I said, I didn't come here to start a debate, just to voice my frustrations. Seeing as no one here really knows me and my case personally, there's nothing I can say to convince you of anything. And I'm not against "giving minorities a break" either, it's just that in my case it didn't seem fair to me.

Sorry to bother any of you, this will be my final post in here of anything not related to the decisions. I will be appealing myself, and I wish the best of luck to all of you.

I haven't received my letter yet but I'm assuming I'm rejected or waitlisted since I couldn't log in to the GAAP website. This really sucks, Gtown was my 1st choice.

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Other Factors:

None that I can think of. I had a lot of IR related EC's, like Model UN, debate, etc.

Wait, so how accurate do you think that site is? It worked for me, but does that actually mean that I'm in or does it work for everyone but most people just wouldn't know the password?

vampie, not a penny? bad bad news for me then...yikes.

As far as ethnicity/underrepresented minorities/first generation college students, affirmative action. I believe in socio-economic action, because I think that AA is almost offensive - like saying people of a particular race are handicapped, which is not true. I think a lot of times poverty are associated with these groups..socioeconomic AA would reward people of lower incomes of all levels, because a quality education/college preparation are really proportional to how much money one makes or can spare for it. If you can afford to go to a private school with 20 people in a class, you're much more likely to move through the curriculum faster, be better prepared for AP tests, etc. as opposed to my public school where there are 40 kids in a history class and the going can be slow sometimes.

That being said, I got in with a 1400, and I'm 100% caucasian. So it has nothing to do with race, there are so so many factors.

I wouldnt' say it has nothing to do with race.
Just that there are many other factors also.

And who knows? Maybe the adcom read your app the day he/she had tripped on the Exorcist stairs going up to school, ruined his new dry clean only pants, got yelled at by angry parents whos kid got deferred ea, and didn't have time to eat lunch, and the reject pile was unusually high....life happens?

We just have to hope that the adcoms at other schools will see something that these didn't.

good luck to all...

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

I just got home and you guys just allowed me to find out my decision on this beautiful Sunday evening!!!!!!!!!!

I got in !!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

click on rsvp and then enter in your id and your password is the last 4 numbers of your social security number.

tHAT'S what I did. worked like a charm

congrats! :)

too many strong asians.. tht's why we're not urm -.-
doesn't matter that there are less asians than blacks or hispanics in the us.. we'll never be urm

people who have been accepted seem to be getting their mail first and they can log into see this :http://gaap.georgetown.edu/accepted.cfm
so i'm guessing the rest of us who haven't received yet are rejected

why is gtown taking so long :(
and if i don't have SSN can i not log into that GAAp site?

If Georgetown ever issued you a # in leiu of a SSN, then the last 4 digits of that # is what you would type in as the password.

Anyways, the website isn't accurate because not everyone's information has been added to the datebase.
