Just a quick comment, keep in mind that several of the programs at RIT are 5-year programs, so it is usually better to say when you are starting then when you are ending school, in order to better understand.

I don't know if she will be going. She prefers University of Cincinnati because of their very strong coop program.

We are awaiting several schools and awaiting financial offers before making any decisions. By the way, she has applied foir Fall 2006 Admission.

taxguy: While I am not entirely sure about other departments, I know that RIT also has a very strong Co-Op program. That is one of the reasons that I went here.

Table, yes they do EXCEPT for their School of Design. This is why the coop is optional for the School of Design in New Media and Graphic Design.

Essays: well, i thought it was pretty good, and i was accepted, so i guess it couldn't of been too bad...haha.
School/Major: School of Imaging Science/Photojournalism.

did anyone else think it strange that they didn't want a portfolio for photo? does anyone know why that is? it was the only school i applied to that didn't, and yet its the best photo program in the nation...seems ironic.

also, anyone know anything about the specialty houses? i'm thinking of applying, for the photo one of course...are they really, i dont know, that special?

Well, I do not know a great deal about the photo house, but I have been to the computer science house many times, and it is a great place. So, it is definitely worth the effort to get into a special interest house if it appeals to you (besides, you can always leave if you must).

Also, it is far more difficult to join a house once you are a student here.

Decision: Accepted
GPA: 3.99 (graduating Summa Cum Laude in May '06 with a BA in Art, Concentration in Media Studies and Minor in Creative Writing)
SAT: unimportant (I'm going into the grad school so they didn't ask for it. Plus I'm on the old scale)
EC's: Literary Magazine, Puppetry Performance Classes, Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, Dean's List (including National DL), American Scholar, violin, erm...probably some other stuff, but i can't remember :s
Essays: well, my mommy liked them. lol j/k. My advisor said they were excellent. I thought my RIT essay was the best in the lot, to be honest. Out of my other ones I've written, that is. lol
School/Major: Graduate Program, Imaging Arts: Animation, Film and Video

I did a study abroad in England last year, where I studied only animation. Also, I have a very strong Fine Arts background and a very strong drive I think I conveyed rather well in my essay.

Oh, and I got a merit scholarship for $4500...idk if that'll do me much good, considering I supposedly can't use it if I get other forms of financial aid, which I'll DEFINITELY need, considering I'm now considered independent and my EFC is in the 3-grand range :s

shimmy-shake it to the left, shimmy-shake it to the right
