Official Sat II Biology Thread

Does anyone remember their answers for the neuron diagram and the set of heredity/genetic questions in the beginning?

oh, what about the auxin embroyo question, it was like what does the auxin do to the cells, was it enlarge the cells only?
and was the embryo from a flowering plant?

yes, it was a plant--auxin makes it bigger. When auxin is with cytokinin it caused a cancer cell.

What was the mendel question

How did you do on the second set of questions about Heredity?

I dont think the curve is as generous as history's.

i think the mendel question was along the lines of what pheotype would he use to see if the other on was homozygous or heterozygous.
for the second set, i think i did okay, i put 50 for the child, 2 for the generations, 4 for the gametes, and 16 for the last question about chromatids.

when the nerve was damaged in section 4 of the earthworm, what was the answer to that one?
also, for those taht took the M version, what were the answers for the last two questions?

I was happy with all the genetics questions.

I didn't know like anything about the nervous system, but I didn't really need to for that diagram.

lets get more questions on this thread

there was a question about what is true abuot fertilization or something--the answer was it usually occurs in the fallopian tube (oviduct)

the diagram with the plant and the embryo of the plant and all of the diff pictures, and it asks how it changes from the first picture to the second, is the answer mitosis? or differentiation

when the nerve was damaged in section 4 of the earthworm, section 1 won't response to section 3
I don't remember the specific answer, but it's something like that.

What's a "typical female"? A female with no abnormalities?

Fertilization is in the oviduct, so that was correct.

For the diagram with the picture changing from zygote to picture 1, I said differentiation because I thought I saw the beginning of the stem forming. But a lot of people said mitosis... so I don't know.

And I said that a typical female is only XX... because it's the only TYPICAL female. I think that's right.

I wasn't sure XX is a female, and XO is a female is infertile. I wasn't sure, I chose both XX and XO, even though the XO can't produce progeny--it's still a female.

for the 4th question on the test... the one with all organisms, just plants, just animals, etc..... what did you put for the one about plasma membranes?

I thought they all have plasma membranes. There's another biology room that's more active.

what was the answer for the one about volcanic islands and animals being different?

for the volcanic islands one i think it was they evolved because they were isolated

and for the fertilization one, i put that the vaginal lining breaks down once a month but i just found that it was the utrine lining.

huh? refresh my memory; what was the question about?
