was there a question about vietnam war and one of the answers was the french backing out or something.. or wrong test again lol

wrong test i believe.

BTW about the cartoon it WAS carpetbaggers

The Donkey wasnt the symbol of the democrats yet lol, neither was the elephant for the republicans... the donkey= belonged to carpetbaggers they got killed KKK shaved name on donkey thats what I inferred

Actually you might be right about the donkey cause Nast revived that symbol and made the elephant in the 1870s so now i dont no im pretty sure that the important part was the hanging carpetbaggers though

it was prolly more like the mule and 40 acres taht was "promised"...

not it wasnt that

Edit: forget it, irrelevant now.

but was that the SAT II or the other exam

Sat Ii.....

The answer to the cartoon with the hanging men and the mule was DEFINITELY carpetbaggers. No doubt about it.

Is there anyone here who feels like they've got a shot at the big 800? I personally felt the test was rather easy, and there weren't that many I didn't know. I'm hoping this points towards a high 700 or an 800.

anybody have a recent list of our compiled answers, with fixed answers cuz i know there were some disagreements....PM if you can

I'm probably getting somewhere between 730-770.

Sounds like I can shoot for one, iv'e only gotten 4 wrong (French colonies, indentured servants, WWI, anti-slavery society). I really hope so, but I would be please with anything north of 750,

What is this "WWI" question that everyone is talking about? Is that the increase in gov't power Q?

Was it: What showed increased gov power for WWI? One choice was Selective Service Act.

Anybody know what a score with minus 10 and 1 blank is

nevermind...i think im somewhere around 760

im just hoping to stay above 700 im at like 740 or somehwere around there

I think I have a shot at an 800.. however, I am in the air over the carpet baggers question, because I still feel that it was talking about political corruption because of the donkey.. lol I don't know why I put that.

Ok, I've been rereading it again.. and I think the idea of the KKK in it shifts the question to political corruption, because not all of the south hated carpet baggers.. and that wasn't the meaning behind it.

Its all questionable imo

this is what I found in my text book however,

"The carpetbaggers, who were aligned with northern industry through business interest and the scalawags, were beginning to make their presence felt much to the dismay of the southern planters and landowners. If the Blacks are not allowed to vote, they cannot be counted or have representation nationally. This would mean the North would control the national government, but the South would control local southern governments. Since the latter perceivably would stifle business prospects, the North, industry, and big business would be uncomfortable with it. If the Blacks were given the ballot they would be expected to align themselves with the scalawags and carpetbaggers, which was in the best interest of the northern factions. With the abolitionists pressing hard for Black suffrage, a coalition evolved, containing both of these groups, known as the "abolition democracy." The result of all of this was that in 1869 their representatives in congress passed the Fifteenth Amendment (ratified in 1970) giving the Blacks the vote.

After the war's end, wholesale violence broke out against the Blacks. The masses of poor whites as Ku Klux Klansmen et. al. threatened Black voters and laborers. In order to suppress southern violence and destroy conspiracies against the Fourteen and Fifteenth Amendments, President Grant requested military aid. As a result the Ku Klux Klan Enforcement Act of April 20, 1871 was passed."

The men in the trees were lynched freedman, therefore the cartoon was in reference to the political corruption that occured in the south as back lash to the abolitionist coalition inrespects to the 14th and 15th amendments. The cartoon wasn't simply stating the South disliked Carpet baggers. If they did it wouldn't account for the KKK or the lynchings. Last time I checked the KKK didn't hate norther whites, as long as they were not immigrants. The cartoon was implicit of the corruption of the time period, KKK not allowing blacks to vote, carpet baggers in the north exploiting southern planters, and the sectionalism that still existed due to the southern democrats being unaligned with northern republicans.. It was a culmination of images in my mind,

The obvious carpet bags being held by the lynched men who were black, the donkey representing southerners, and the KKK.

Just my 2 cents.

Totoboyo, if that's the only Q you got wrong (or even if you have a few wrong), you should be in the 800 range. Similarly, I will be mad if I don't get a 800. :o

I think I have a 790 :).
